Selling Pre-Packaged Sweets and Drinks

Hi
I am looking for a little advice - not sure how to find on the net... when searching about it, I either find about people making food or kids selling sweets in schools that have got rid of tuck shops lol

I do a stall at an event with lots of geeky collectibles. Lots of mystery bags and blind bags.

Now in the summer months (especially with extortionate drink prices ) I was thinking of just having one of the tables under my gazebo with drinks and sweets (at normal prices) - These would be wholesale bought items (not home made) - i.e. 500ml Coke Cola, 7Up, Sprite, bottles and with the sweets again proper fully wrapped sweets, nothing loose and open

Do I need anything special to sell these? I believe from what I understand I only need to be registered with Food Standards Agency if I was making the food, where as just reselling pre-packaged items would just be general retail

I'd be grateful for any further information anyone may have on this

Thanks

Tris

Scalloway.... thanks, I don't think I made myself clear. I already trade collectible items... they are all organised events I go to, that I have a stall at. So as for the general trading part that's fine, I'm already authorised to trade at these private events.

I just want to add a table to my typical range, focused on some cheaper items of sweets and drinks... So as for having a pitch at these various one off events, that's already covered.

I'm just checking about the rules of selling pre-packaged food and drinks - obviously just reselling toys that's not an issue as they are manufactured elsewhere. I'm also aware that if I was preparing, making food to sell (like fudge sellers, cake sellers, etc) I'd need to be FSA registered for the preparation areas to be checked etc

But from what I can see, selling pre packaged, manufactured sweets and drinks is just resale like the toys, just like a general convenience store

Hi

the Labelling will be the same as sold... i.e. buy from cash and carry, sell on stall... the labels the same as in a shop etc??

Hi - if that's the case then it would seem no action to take, just watching the best before dates through rotation of stock. I wasn't sure if you were looking at repackaging any of the products, if you were then that's when the labelling becomes important :)

Note that events may have their own rules about trading feed. A certain event that I'm attending at the end of this month just sent through an email reminding everyone that only pre-approved retailers were allowed to offer food, prepackaged or otherwise, alongside their regular wares.

Failing to get pre-approval could end up with the retailer being hit with costs of up to £1500 per day of the event.
