Selling on Amazon

Firstly, hello everyone this is my first post. My question is in relation to selling on Amazon. I've read up on becoming a seller but find it quite confusing.

I have a growing line of very low value range of kraft paper related giftware items that I print and produce myself. There is a different print on each item and currently I have about 50 different designs in the range which I intend to expand to 100+. The value ranges from £2.99 to £4.99. These items are sent out as large letter post and when factoring in the ever increasing royal mail postage prices it doesn't always make these items viable for a paper product as the final cost could be close to £5.00 or as much as £7.99.

I know these products sell well but I'm trying to get them to customers for the lowest prices possible. I grew my business over a 5 year period and became one of the leading sellers on ebay for this particular item a few years ago but due to low profit margins and running everything myself it just wasn't a viable long term business and in 2017 I ceased trading. Since then nobody has really entered the market with the designs I sell so I've decided to commence again, but scaled down into a more workable format. I've created new designs, but limited the range and included an additional feature on each item aswell to slightly bump up the selling price.

I had been told to look at amazon fullfiment but I'd like to know how this service works particularly for low value items...does it make it easier since they have their own shipping methods or do amazon prefer to avoid shipping low value items? Also if I did go ahead and sell on that platform would I have to create my own individual barcode for every item sold?

I understand Amazon have a handmade section which could also be worth exploring as I can offer personalisation. However, I don't know where or how to begin when I'm a complete novice in this area having only ever been an eBay seller.

I look forward to any replies.

Sorry I don't have a direct answer for this one, but I wondering why you chose Amazon as a platform rather than Etsy? Craft and hand made seems more suited to Etsy. On a wide basis, have you considered trade sales to small independent retailers? Instead of sending out one of something to a customer you could send out 10s to a retailer. Lower margin, but much higher volume, for the same admin it takes for a single unit sale.
