Selling Ebooks Through Your Website

Anyone know how you would go about this?

If you wanted to sell them in different formats (i.e epub for ibooks or mobi for kindle) would you have to get apple or amazons permission??

Or does anyone know of a reseller option where you just take a cut from books ordered from your website?

I'm an Amazon affiliate and get a small cut of each book sale made after one of my referral links is followed.

It's not a great rate, but I've heard stories of people getting a decent amounts after someone clicked their link then decided to buy a chest freezer as well. Sadly it hasn't happened to me yet, but here's hoping.

Newmedia, it depends what you want to achieve.

Do you want to sell your own ebooks or someone elses?

What kind of ebooks are we talking about? Which audience are you aiming for?

I have sold ebooks of my own and also others through a variety of channels e.g. Paypal, Clickbank, Tradebit.

It really depends on what your goals are as to which path to take. Maybe you can tell us a little more.

Well it really depends on what you want to do.

For example, Amazon has many widgets you can use to display books. You can build your own "astore" easily and customise the colours so it looks like a section of your own site.

Or other people with their own ebooks may have a platform they currenetly use. e-junkie is one them, they have their own marketplace that lists the books. Clickbank is another one. PayDotCom is another. There are many out there.

Or you may wish to buy the rights to sell ebooks that others have written for this purpose. They are called PLR ebooks (Private Label Rights). Beware though, because the quality of many of these books is shoddy. 95% are like that and 5% are good.

I'm curious as to why you want to provide this service on a non-profit basis. Wherever you advertise them, it could be at the opportunity cost of making some money.

i routinely use prestashop, i'll look into options and see if multiple formats are supported in "downloadable products"

no addon modules to do that

only way i could think to do that is in categories, and duplicating products
