Hey everyone,

I've been running my music promotion agency for over a year now, focusing on Spotify campaigns, music video promotions (Google ads), FB ad campaigns, and press campaigns for artists. While I've gained valuable experience and am making quite A name for myself I'm facing challenges in securing consistent payments and more of it. Looking for advice on scaling for a bigger and more consistent income.

Payment Consistency:Any tips on ensuring consistent payments from clients for ongoing services? How do you structure your payment plans to encourage regular and reliable cash flow?

Diversifying Services:I've been thinking of leveraging my digital marketing knowledge to expand beyond music. Any suggestions on branching out into other industries while utilizing my current skill set?Have you successfully diversified your services, and what challenges did you overcome?

Scaling Strategies:What strategies have you found effective in scaling a service-based business? Are there specific marketing channels or partnerships that significantly boosted your agency's growth?

Website and Branding:Currently handling everything myself – any advice on optimizing my website and branding?Tips on creating a professional online presence without extensive resources?

Thanks in advance. All Your experiences and advice will be incredibly valuable in navigating the next phase of all of this.

Cheers

Jacob

Welcome to UKBF.

The best way for constant payments is:
  • Make terms clear in your contracts and ensure everyone has a copy.
  • Make payment terms clear on your invoices.
  • Invoice regularly and promptly.
  • Send nudges before payment is due.
  • Send reminders if payment is late.
  • Don't be afraid to threaten and take legal action if you are not paid - a 'client' who does not pay is a liability!
Website and Branding
Whilst you can do it your self, it is best to use an expert/pro. You can then focus on making (and collecting money). SUre, you could do some bits yourself, but get someone else to do the hard lifting.

Scaling
What exactly do you want to scale? Turnover, clients etc?

Hi Jacob and welcome to UKBF

If you want to scale your business you need to consider paying for services.

Invoicing and cash collection can be looked after by credit controllers. You could also look at invoice financing or trade credit insurance.

Diversifying could work. It all depends on how good your marketing skills. I used to diversify but am now very niche as it's far more lucrative. May not be the same in your industry.

To scale up you need to invest: spend money to make money. For example, an investment of £100K could result in £1M in income. How much do you want to scale? Do you want to take on staff?

Websites and branding often needs help. You can get too close to the coal face and miss simple fixes that would make a huge difference. The very fact I can't find you on Google suggests they may be a number things need fixing.

Write reports, Set up a test period for newcomers, report all you do, even the most minor details can make a positive impression. Make it attractive to have a service rather than an one time engagement. Give discounts. Care for your clients.

Thanks so much for this. I'm not making a crazy amount at the moment and do not have tons to invest by any means, trust me I would if I could since I know the long term value it can bring, I do a lot of design work & marketing work so I can do everything myself at the moment but looking ahead I will get overwhelmed with clients. Basically music campaigns are inconsistent and artists aren't strapped for cash. I was thinking of potentially a subscription service so I can get consistent cash flow or an additional service like smma which is more lucrative since I can apply my digital marketing skills. I know I have the technical skill I just don't know the best avenue to apply it
