I bought an incorrectly sized widget from Screwfix and exchanged it for a smaller one. The difference of £2 could not be refunded, but was to be taken as a credit note.
Tonight I returned to buy a plug for £2.74, handed over the credit note and had my debit card in hand to pay the difference to be told it wasn't necessary, that I had over £30 credit in my account!????

I have never knowingly opened a formal credit account with them, other than registering some personal details to speed up the buying/click and collect process, There is nothing I can access online to tell me the position of my 'account' and in store they can tell me I have credit but not what it's for, where it came from. The suggestion is that I may have paid for an order online but didn't collect the goods.

What irks me is that only by pure chance have I found out about credit Screwfix are holding on my behalf. Do they not have an obligation to inform me?

PS: I cannot use the credit for click and collect or delivery and can only access it by visiting a store.

Bit of a ramble there!:p

Cut down version. Ask Screwfix if you have any credit. Mine is not an isolated incident.
