Hi

Just looking for opinions from people that have used both packages. I will be taking over a small retailer and have an accountant for vat returns etc but will be learning most of the day to day things myself.

Could anyone recommend either of these in terms of ease of use, functionality etc. are is it really a case of both do the same and people just like what they are used to?

thanks

I noticed from your other post you were looking for a EPOS to connect to accounting software. If your needs are very simple i believe the square POS app is free and will connect to xero.

I use KashFlow, however I have had a detailed look at Xero and a glancing look at Sage One.

In my opinion, Sage One lives off the back of a massive market brand of Sage from the installed software market, but as a late comer to the cloud, I feel it was more a defence against the 'newcomers' Xero and KashFlow and lacks substantially.

In terms of ease of use KashFlow is easier than Xero, in that it 'speaks' business terminology rather than 'accounting jargon', for that reason I don't think accountants favour Xero.

Xero seems to have more features than KashFlow and as a consequence slightly harder to get going than KashFlow. But that could certainly be an advantage towards Xero if your requirements are more demanding than standard.

At the end of the day, it is a matter of listing your requirements and then checking how each product meets those requirements.

Most products have a free trial, so once you have narrowed down your choice, fire up a trial.

For me Xero is the better product, a big difference is Xero has a lot of direct bank feeds which save a lot of time where as most products rely on third party feeds which are less reliable.

Xero has a vast array of add ons which also make a big difference depending on your needs.

Not sure about the comment Accountants not liking Xero it's the best product on market and I can see it becoming the industry standard

Clients find Xero easy to use as it has a host of how to videos etc which make it easy to learn
