Sage line 50 help please!!

Help, I'm stuck

ok

month one - raised invoice, received payment, paid off on sage, did bank rec all matched.
month two - realised invoice was wrong, gave money back, raised credit note on sage.

cant pay off credit note and can't bank rec money given back

help!!

If you're using a newer version of Line 50, then in the customers screen, on the left you should have a write off/refund option. If this is available to you, then tell it to refund the credit note, and this should do all the entries for you.

Failing that, I would do this:

month one - raised invoice, received payment, paid off on sage, did bank rec all matched.

This should be fine, and you shouldn't need to touch it.

month two - realised invoice was wrong, gave money back, raised credit note on sage.

This is also correct.
Now, raise an invoice (tax code T9) to the value of the credit note, and use nominal code 9998.
Now, do a bank payment to code 9998 reference the credit note (in details).

This should have the effect of Dr debtors Cr Suspense, then Dr Suspense Cr bank.

The customer account will be clear (go into bank > customer and write off the dummy invoice against the credit note) and the bank will reconcile with your payment to them.

My only comment is if it is cash accounting, raising an invoice with T9 as the tax code will not allow you to match invoice to credit note - you need to make the invoice the same vat code and net/vat split as the credit note and then make the bank payment match also.

Thanks Alison. I've not used Cash Acc on sage in a very long time! For clarity, my instructions assume standard VAT accounting

Hello,

My query is irrelevant to the ongoing discussion of the problem but the thread's topic is same as mine, Sage line 50 help please!! I am using version 14 of Sage Line 50 Professional 2008.

The problem is when I change the account name from one to another, all products in that particular invoice turn taxable.

For example, if the invoice has chips (it's an eatable product, hence, tax-free), upon changing the account name, the tax will be applied.

This never used to happen before upgrading from the 8th version but ever since I upgraded it to the version 14, this problem commenced.

Kindly, help me in getting rid of this annoying problem.

2. You then select a product and, if it is zero rated, the VAT is calculated accordingly

3. If you then change the customer, it defaults back again, ignoring what it on the product.

Of course, whether, this is correct or not is a different matter altogether...

There is no solution for the version of the program that you are using - for what it's worth, the current version (v2012) does not do this so an upgrade to 2012 would be the solution...

HELP SAGE LINE 50

l am currently using sage line 50. l have customers whose orders have been refused by sales order department team, but they said they recently sent payment for balance outstanding on end of month statement. Which reports can l generate from sage to assist with my investigation in terms of their usefulness and relevance. what control mechanism stopped order processing and how can l improve it to avoid similar customer complaints?
