Hi Guys,

I've just been completing my first SA tax return via HMRCs online service.
Basically i've been running a part time business in addition to being employed during tax year 10/11 however i've got a query that i cant seem to find any info on.

Basically the rest of my tax return is completed to the best of my abilities and my total taxable income for 10/11 is around £30k (this include my employment income which was taxed through PAYE + self employed business income)

Now i've filed my tax return i assumed it would now show the total NIC class 4 + Income tax due however it is only showing the total NICs i need to pay, so i've paid this off but im confused where do i find out how much income tax i owe to pay it before 31st Jan?

Looking on the PDF readable tax form generated the only thing i can find with regards to this is a section that says
"If you owe tax for 2010-11 and have a PAYE tax code, we
will try to collect the tax due (if less than £2,000) through
your tax code for 2012-13, unless you put 'X' in the box"

However this is under "If you have not paid enough Tax"and also this box is unticked, so i assume they auto calculate my income tax based on the business profits and will deduct it through my PAYE income via my employer?

Anyone have any ideas about this as i was told by someone i need to pay income tax & Nics for 2010/11 by 31st Jan 2012?

Cheers

Please note my business profits are low this year and total tax due wont be over £1000 so as far as im aware i dont need to make an extra 50% payment on account, i believe i just need to pay this small amount of income tax off before 31st Jan somehow?

Sorry i think i may have been mistaken, it looks like the box where i paid the total NICs payable also included all other forms of tax including income in self assessment box 1, hopefully this is correct will check with HMRC to be sure though,
