Regus office space

First off a big hello to everyone. I’m looking forward to becoming an active member in what appears to be a very helpful community.

I currently run a small company and am looking to start a second small company. I am currently working from home but it’s starting to get frustrating so I would like to move into a serviced office ASAP.

Ideally I need a serviced office in Aberdeen city centre for 2 people. I had a tour of the Regus office centre in Aberdeen this afternoon and was very impressed by what I saw, it would be ideal. Pricing was higher than I expected however, excluding a phone line (so just the basic office) I was initially quoted £900 per month for a 12x12 foot office. They did immediately come down to £800 per month but I still feel this is very expensive. Does anyone have any ball park figures which I should be aiming for?

In Bolton for a serviced office size 157 sq ft, you will pay £505 per month and this includes 2 Exec chairs, 3 visitors chairs, 2 desks, 2 filing cabinets and 1 coatstand ...... any help??

And Bolton is one of Britains largest towns ....

That's defiantly very helpful. Can you confirm if that's for a Regus office or is it with another company?

Hi all,

I had Regus space for a few years and it was good, but however beware of a virtual office clause.
We had to pay for the office space for 3 months after leaving "virtual office space" I was told, cost a fortune for nothing beware!

Found a small local independent company to rent space from, and it was half the cost!

My sister works in a Regus serviced office in Aberdeen. She would agree that the space is very expensive but, it is Aberdeen. There is a severe shortage of good office space here. I think you are stuck with their furniture as well. I'll give her a call and talk to her about it if you have any specifics you need to know.

Is that Riverside house?

My day job had an office in there managed by Regus( I work out of the Glasgow office). They were very expensive for things like faxes received and for the hire of meeting rooms.Total rip off.

We have moved into offices in Aberdeen 4 times the size, closer to the town, and the costs are just a bit higher.....but we were looking for a while.

I have a serviced office at Regus, although I agree they are quite expensive you have to realise you do get the prestige business address, which makes your company look alot more professional.

My investor, and hence I too, use Regus in Paris. OK, it's not cheap, but they are very good. For example, the assistants all seem to speak at least 3 languages and they have been quite professional whenever we have had a request.

For out of town visitors, you can't beat a famous address.


(PS: We use Regus mainly for important meetings. We have offices elsewhere for our daily stuff.)

Regus are like Marmite; you either love them or hate them. If you're not a fan, ATEAC are another top operator in Paris. In fact, I'd be happy to put you in touch with a number of operators in and around Europe, depending on where you're looking.

Hi,

Prices are always negotiable, not all tenants will be paying the same rate. You may get an even greater discount if you sign a longer tenancy license. Be careful with the phone charges as this is where they make some of their money as they will give you a bog standard BT rate. It really depends how popular the centre is as to what discounts you will get. Sometimes they offer two months free, depending on your circumstances. I would say to them that "you have a few others to look round" or "you can't really afford 800" see what they say!

Regus have one thing to their aid, and that is address - apart from that it's a rip-off. Charges are high, and the quality of service/facilities are poor, aircon doesn't work etc.....perhaps aberdeen is ok, but london is awful. If you don't need the address don't bother

My brother inlaw had a 2 desk office with Regus in Oxford Street London and he was only paying £600 a month so I don't see why an office in Aberdeen should cost more than London. I sure it should be either the same price or cheaper - unless the building is the best address and building in Aberdeen.

Forgot to mention - try http://www.CompleteOfficeSearch.com if you need office space - there seems to be lots of different agents but I would recommend these guys :D

That does sound expensive! Its better to search a lot of providers regarding offices, I was in the same position last month and tried nicheoffices.com. They deal with a lot of office providers.

Have you tried the university? We have a serviced office in the University of Herfrodshire's innovation building, and they're very good. Maybe Aberdeen Uni does similar?

Have you considered getting a virtual office or going for a desk space (shared office) instead? Just hire meeting rooms whenever you need to meet a client.

Or why don't you do bit of cold calling. Write a short letter about your office needs, make lots of copies, post it to offices in your desired location.

Who knows, you might strike it lucky and find some office space in a building belonging to another small business!

I suspect the OP will have been sorted out in the last 5 years (the OP was from 2006).
