Hi all.

Just a quick query I have regarding sole trader registering.

I work for a large company In a fitness centre, and I also provide sports therapy treatments as an additional service in which the company offers.

I also bring my own clients in to the company to carry out this. All leaflets etc consist of the company logo.

All payments are processed through the till and paid into my account through my end of month pay packet.

Would I need to register as a sole trader, or am I covered through the company?

I appreciate any help.

Many thanks, Paul.

Are the payments that you receive all subject to PAYE deductions or are they paid free of tax?

Thank you for the reply.

The payments I receive will be taxed, so considering what you are saying I won't need to register as a sole trader?

Thanks, Paul

Well, you're not are you? I guess the simplest thing to look at is how these people perceive you. Are you a person who is in business? (Using the HMRC guidelines it's fairly simple) Do you supply your own tools of the trade? can you pick your own hours, can you put in somebody to work instead of you without asking, do you have a business bank account, separate from your personal one, do you have insurance, and all the other questions. Are you not just an employee getting some kind of commission?
