Really shocked today!

One of my old dancers I used in shows for three years has shocked me. She'd had cancer when younger and was really lovely. She found a partner and got pregnant - then her cancer returned. A friend started a go fund me to generate the money for some special treatment not available on the NHS - loads of her friends (and me) contributed, especially when the pics on Facebook with no hair emerged. It turns out she has never had cancer, ever! A total con. Loads of us know her really well, or thought we did, and feel we really got took in. Despicable!

A hanging offence in my eyes...

Out of interest, how was she caught? Psychopathic liars often hide behind a veil of pleasantry.

I follow (stalk?) a guy who owes me money, a double bankrupt suit wearing, high dining, Mercedes driving benefits fraudster (charged and prosecuted), a one time nice guy who even to former friends is still a nice guy despite him stitching them up and living off their kind heartedness.

A little while ago I got an "email" from a friend saying he had cancer but as he was in the USA could not afford to pay. Had set up a GFM etc. I phoned him to commiserate only to be told he is fine and knows nothing about it.
Not sure what he did but the page disappeared fairly quickly.

    Awful.

A couple of years ago I donated to acquaintance's GoFundMe page. I met her a couple of times, she was so lovely but an absolute character - wasn't sure what to make of her, but two of my close friends were quite close with her.

The fundraiser was for her son, he had lost his hands from a rare condition and she wanted bionic hands for her 10 year old son.

Earlier this year, it was found out she used the money on her son - for ONE bionic hand, and the other for a new car and cosmetic surgery.

Needless to say, my dear friends have disassociated themselves with her.

Such a shame when these things happen.

I was quite upset, but have donated to good causes since.

    Alas, right?

There have been quite a few high profile cases like that.

I would also never, ever contribute to a crowd sourcing campaign for "special", "complementary", "alternative", "new" or "novel" cancer treatments. Too many are just another antineoplastin. Doesn't stop quite a few celebs being taken in who should be ashamed of the publicity they give to the charlatans.
