Re-work

 Does anyone get peeved when we already know how to do our jobs in what ever industry we are in, and certain customers who just happen to be your biggest customers and know that they are and so take the rise a fair bit, insist on doing something themselves being a know all even though you know full well it is not workable and then it goes wrong as predicted and you have to take the hit and start the system all over again and they do not apologise or say thank you.

There is the thing of adding a service charge to do this but then you know full well they will just say "go swing"! Basic manners costs nothing and some customers are basic arrogant "I have really wanted to swear then". The customer is not always right at all.

Not really, but what does peeve me are businesses that feel they can't break free from their biggest customer for fear of loosing them. When in reality the big customer probably knows and expects they should be charged for work yet constantly wonders why they aren't.

It is the same for many a businesses, the above is just an example.

A lot of businesses do not charge for quotations. It is reasonable to and fair to because what a lot of people do is get three quotes, businesses and domestic and go with what they want. That is two businesses, spent the money, paid for the time to go or paid staff to go.

There is not really a way around this I don't think, just a fact of life I think that we have to grin and bear.

So you're peeved at not getting a job you quoted on or am I missing something?

It's unrealistic to expect to a potential client to pay for someone to give them a quote so you factor this in to your overall running costs. Someone, somewhere will pay for the time and effort put in to offer a quote.

No it is not a quote.

Something that is quite trivial really but is unnecessary work.

It is about having to write to lots of residents and whereas we visit and put the letters through the doors so that we know they have the letters, it is done in one day and it is clear with a number on so that they can ring us.

This customer did not want to do it this way! A new member of staff decided she knew better and wanted to do it her way. So she issues all the letters by post but not to the addresses, to the landlords who live miles away often.

This has left man tenants not having the information they needed to be able to contact us. So we have then had to go back and start all over again with fresh letters and leaving some tenants rather miffed and still have to go out there.

I would like to think they would listen but this company has a turnover of silly girls who get promoted beyond their ability. In their promotion, they want to show they are the boss and treat people like poop. It is not just me, they are hated by many people.

surely if they are silly enough to do it badly the first time after not listerning to you, you get the same job twice, so twice the money, so I don't see the problem, make sure you do the job to the best of your ability both times and reap the rewards of their mistakes.

We do not charge for delivering letters. Part of the problem is the working relationship. These work well when you have that trusted contact or one you have a rapport with or get on ok with.

With a turnover of staff, they have to be proven wrong rather than accept our word for it.

If the person you deal with normally has been replaced, it might be time to re work the contract or drop the client, certainly make their superior know your currently unhappy with the working relationship.

If this is working with property agents then I feel your pain. For our plastering and plumbing business we will get stupid instructions sometimes where daft girlies have obviously been to college to learn plumbing in their spare time (not!) :) more rework than you could shake a stick at!! Hehe
