Calibre Designs

Hi all,

Please rate printing.com in terms of quality and price.

They use full colour litho printers and I would like to be in contact with businesses with the same capabilities.

Thanks

Kay

Yes I have already seen printing people here but they never state the specification in full. Printing quality can vary considerably and it is very important for us to complete our design jobs with high level print.

More details please.

Their comms are good too, unlike some resllers I could mention.

...I think they may have already been mentioned.

I wouldn't bash digital print, the quality you can get should be up there with litho if the printer is using the right equipment and paper and making sure it's all calibrated properly. The choice between digital and litho is more likely to be because of print volume.

Hi

I'd love to quote for any projects you might have. We rate very highly next to printing.com as each job is looked at individually rather than planned up with others. We are also competitive with them in many areas.

The Printing House is a full service commercial printer, offering services to business and consumers. Some of our biggest selling services are;

· Litho printing (medium to long run) - brochures, leaflets, business cards, flyers, letterheads, compliment slips etc
· Digital Printing (short run and variable data printing) - business cards, leaflets, brochures etc.
· Large format Print - banners, exhibition stands, pull up/roll up banners
· canvas prints for home or office of your pictures.
We have a special offer on at the moment of 500 full colour quality letterheads for only £69.

Kind Regards

Printing.com is very expensive and sometimes the quality isn't good. We had business cards made and waited 4-5 days for completion and collection, we were told that it only takes 2 days.
Having been involved with printing.com on a franchise level all I can say is someone has not managed your expectations properly as the shortest normal turnaround on business cards by printing.com is 3 working days after approval of artwork and payment.

The turnaround of a job does not include the time it takes to produce artwork as generally most clients like to have at least a couple of changes made prior to print, this can lead to the whole process taking longer than you expect if you're just working with the turnaround time, especially if you want to make lots of changes.

You may believe that a day or two added to the turnaround in order to produce artwork is unacceptable but you really have to ask yourself, do you want the job done quickly or done well? printing.com stores are generally very busy and noone should expect to jump the queue without paying an extra premium.

I've used them a few times for low-end stuff like business cards, letter heads, invoice papers, business christmas cards, etc. The product was always good but communnication from them was horrendous. I was forever having to chase them up to do simple stuff like give me a price on jobs, etc. - and that was after waiting a week or so longer than the time they told me it would take them to do it.

When dealing with franchises you will always get some better than others. My company is always busy too but we respond to enquiries fast and make sure the customer is kept informed.

It's not because they are busy that they don't communicate well, it's because they are badly managed.

Digital printing has it's good uses too. The quality is getting better and better. High end digital printing equipment can produce work comparable with Litho.

We didn't expect to jump the queue or be treated like royalty, we approved the artwork within 2 days and then waited 4-5 days for completion.

Hi Snipe12

Thanks for the feedback.

That's interesting that you're using getprint. I think they print in Poland and ship into the UK. They use quite a lot of different trading names with different addresses in UK serviced offices to give them a 'local presence' - has anyone visited them? (Google their MD, Wolfgang Lerchl, and see how many different sites come up!)

My understanding of printing.com is that if they deliver late then you don't pay. Hence unless they told you how long the job would take and you agreed then you should also have had the job free of charge.

They lost our business after a set of letterheads was problematic. I think that was entirely down to the branch used, as when we used the Liverpool branch there was no issue and the staff went out of their way to help. We had put a lot of business through them and were pleased with the quality overall. It only was an issue when we moved branch.

The handling of our first and, as it was last, complaint was poor, not rude, just completely indifferent when it got to director level- note the staff were great- the director gave the impression he could not care less- and as a result we used another business for the work needed after that. They lost in 2 months over £5K as we had new letterheads printed to replace the order that was problematic, cards, postcards/flyers and brochures done elsewhere and for the cost we now get delivery and on each occasion the job has been excellent.

That indeed is true. Every item we sell has a fixed guaranteed turnaround. If we fail to despatch on time, we give you a credit to the full value of your order. We call it "On Time, Or It's On Us": http://www.printing.com/about/guarantee

I can see from our system that Software_MS ordered half price Premium Recycled Business Cards (http://www.printing.com/prices/group/OA). These are advertised with a guaranteed turnaround of 5 working days from approval of artwork. However, I can see that we despatched these a day early. I've PM'd him to see if I can find out where the confusion has arisen.

This month during our January Sale we've despatched over 14,000 printing orders with 99.99% being on time or early.

This is really hacking me off now as I was just about to send for details about the printing.com franchise when I found out that my mate had bought it in my local area!! He kept it really quiet till he signed the contract. I then found that both areas adjacent to me were also sold!! PAH!

As a person who has been in franchising for nearly 10 years, this certainly seems like good quality franchise to me.

My previous experience was with the Chester franchise but, as I posted above (some months ago now!) while Chester seemed a bit disorganisedd the product was always great. We've moved office to Tewkesbury now so its time to get all new letterheads, etc. and I'll be giving the local branch to here a shout and see how they compare.

Another positive vote here. I prefer to do my own artwork, and the printing.com franchise here in Birmingham are great - they do a quick check, send it off, and more often than not it is in their office a day early.

As for price, for bigger jobs I have got cheaper prices, but for a general run of leaflets/flyers that I need quickly, I've not been let down (yet).

Looks like a great franchise too, I tried to convince a friend of mine to take it on but to no avail.

I've deleted the post from speciliazed415. Just looks dodgy to me to come here slagging off a company with your first post.

Full marks to the guys at printing.com for resposning to it in a very professional manner.

thanks for that duanejackson fella..
i simply gave a true and precise account of my experiences with printing.com

would it be possible to see the response from printing.com regarding my (deleted by you) post to rate them please?

i'm sorry you don't like to see people slagging off companies here, but i feel so strongly about the way i have been treated by them, that potential customers should know!

i purposely didn't state which branches i'd used so i wouldn't hurt any business directly.

i also didn't go into the utterly bad quality of service from them upon complaint.. pretty much being fobbed off with a 10% discount on my next print job - worth £8k

i would've had more respect if they'd taken the £120 loss and reprinted the cards free of charge, which would have resulted in happy days all round.

thanks for your time in this issue.
and can i suggest that in future, if you don't want first time posters to say what's on their minds.. make it a rule!

Hi Specialized415

Unfortunately our reply also got deleted before you saw it.

We said that we are always disappointed to hear from customers who are unhappy.

Your post or profile doesn't have any contact details so we can't trace you. If you'd like to private message me with your postcode and/or email address, we'd like to investigate what went wrong. We also tried to private message you, but I think you have them switched off.

Regards,

Peter

No problem.

Hello Specialized415

It's always disappointing to learn that someone is unhappy with the service they have received.

I can't see any names or contact details on your profile or in your post. Would you mind sending me a private message with either your postcode or email address so that I can trace you and investigate what has gone wrong?

Many thanks,

Peter

I was told the turnaround time was 3 days, the cards arrived on the 4th day which makes them late.

People are saying they "were told" the delivery time, but by who by and did you get it in writing?

Remember, just like any franchise Printing.com's service for the most part is only going to be as good as the franchisee you use.

I use printing.com for my printing through a franchisee (Accomplice, in Hailsham, Sussex) and have been very happy. We are usually quoted 10 days for business cards, letterheads and continuation sheets - and they are there on time.

Yes, we did have one problem - there were ink spots on 500 of the last cards we ordered - but new ones were quickly printed without any hassle or fuss.

Hi Software_MS

The Recycled Business Cards have a 5 working Day turnaround and this is specified on your order form that you will have signed and agreed to when you placed your order.

Personally I think you are being a tad harsh to the company regarding this.

As a Printing.com franchisee myself I feel it is easily the best value and highest quality print that you can get in the UK at the current time.

I thought i'd air my views on this as a bad word said about one franchise can look bad on others in the network.

Kind Regards

Steven
