Question regarding defect electronic stock

Hello,

I am wondering if someone can help please?

My company currently supplies LED lighting. On occasions, we have some faulty returns. Over the last 2 years, they've added up and I was wondering what other people do with faulty returns. It would be a shame to throw them away as I'm sure some of the components would still be useful to others.

What options do I have?

I like the ebay option - sell it as what it is faulty but maybe repairable. That said, one of my clients runs amusement arcades and NEVER sells any old product at all - he sledgehammers and skips the lot.

Items listed on ebay "for parts and spares" are usually items with relatively high value or are rare or vintage or small as in the case with watches. It depends on the value and size of the lights but if they are not small and do not have high new values, you might struggle to sell a job lot of these lights.

Have you tried the recyclers? It is unlikely that you will get anything for them and you might have to pay for them to be collected, but at least there is a chance that some parts will be used again.

You cannot (legally) just bin them. You need to be part of a WEEE scheme or dispose of the through someone who operates one.

There are many Makerspace and Hackspace and robotspace clubs around
the country who will be happy to come over to collect LED components from you.

Yes, they contain electronics. A simple Google search would have answered your question.

In any case, the OP says "LED lighting", which could contain a lot more electronics.

It feels a bit dishonest to knowingly sell faulty returns as untested returns. People buying the untested returns might think that some returns are working. But if OP hasn't tested the returns to confirm if they are really faulty, then I can't see a problem with OP selling them as untested returns.

yes if he has tested them all, most people just accept all returns and put them to one side, (I did) in which case they would be untested, simple answer, don't test them

Thanks for all the replies. The lamps are untested and I am guessing many of them are working. I have messages a member that posted a comment above that might be able to help. Failing that, I will be putting them on eBay.
