Private Messages Limit Raised?

On another forum with exactly the same software used re: domain names, the limit there for private messages is 2500, yet here is just 50.

I'm constantly having to copy and paste my messages here in to another program which is time consuming and seems a little pointless.

Is there any chance please on raising the limit up to at least 500 messages in the private messaging, this would help enormously.

Many thanks.

200 is good, but why a difference between paid members and non paid members - at the end of the day, exactly what is the difference that non members should be excluded on such a basic function?

If basic members were given all the benefits that paid members were, then there would be no reason to become a paid member and UKBF wouldn't make a penny from the paid membership service.

There has to be some benefits to it or no one will buy into it.

I guess your paying for the extra 'feature' its a hook to get people to upgrade and pay I would assume..

It's only a matter of time before even more forums start to charge for things, but god help us when the posters start charging the forum owners for their work contributing to the forums......

So far I have found no reason to become a paid member. I am good at organising my PM box and I do not mind that my posts are found on google. Extra lines on the signature strip does not bother me at all.

I may still decide to become a paid member though purely because I am intrigued about what happens "behind the scenes" so to speak.

KenUK - You have a great point there! Members are offering invaluable advice that is normally a chargeable consulting fee (outside the forum) . Only a matter of time eh? Thats food for thought ;)

So in effect, to get an extra capacity of another 300 pm messages costs 36 pounds per year, what are the other key benefits?

Personally, I would think that by our very writing here with a lot of the high quality advice given free, that we are inherently increasing the value of the forum anyway.

Having greater capacity in my inbox would be handy thats all for easier functionality.

Paid-Up Full UK Business Forums Membership

This is the premium level of membership to the forums that gives you access to additional benefits and features, for those who use forums as a tool for their business.
• Access to two new private forums that wont end up listed in search engines.
One for general discussion and the other to website feedback & critiques.
• Ability to post events in the forum calender.
• Your profile show up on the members list.
• 150 message PM Mailbox size.
• Your username will be shown bigger and bolder in all messages and posts.
• Special Members Discounts, Freebies and Deals.
• Use the Email This Thread to a Friend link.
• Ability to edit your own posts.
• Rate others threads and posts.
• Create polls for market research and gather statistics.
• Use PM message tracking (have their read that PM I sent?).
• The ability to email other members, not just send PMs.
• Upload larger profile pictures (your company logo).
• Have a larger signature allowance with the ability to add links to your signature.

The most important extra feature though is your business listing(s) in the UK Business Forums Business Directory. Not only is this directory broken down into categories for easy browsing, it is searchable by everyone (whether a user of UKBF or not), but is also browsable by search engines to help your website search engine rankings. This feature has been long requested by our members here, and is surely worth the membership fee alone!

And just to be controversial, it seems to me that the chat and advice should be kept on the forum so the less number of PMs the better!

And then, just to redeem myself I agree with Duane the private/non Google is a really great feature

Hi there,

The Private area is definitely a great benefit of the Paid membership - and the more value we can add to the Paid membership the better. For example, as well as not being 'Googled', the Private area offers a much more focused and considered response to your questions, as Paid members rightly want to get the best out of their membership.

But that certainly doesn't mean that Free members shouldn't get extra perks. I'm always open to any suggestions for extra functionality - that's what we're here for! Please do continue to post your requests here, and we'll look into it.

Cheers for now,
Darren

Stamping his foot like a mad lil hobbit on a hot tin plate and jumping from one foot to the other, I'm up to 46 blinkin' messages again and am worried that again soon, I may have to transplant some of them over to wordpad which is an exasperating exercise and a waste of time that can only lead to more confusion.

Whilst I do appreciate all your efforts combined, the trouble is at present, I simply cannot afford another thirty six pounds for the fully paid for membership of UKBF, trust me I'd love to, it just cannot be managed at this time. And I shouldn't be pushed into the situation of telling you why I need more capacity in my inbox and my lack of funds for acquiring more messaging ability here.

With bills coming out of my ears, banks chasing me around in circles and other creditors whining on like an old record, stinging me for late payments etc I just need my life to be made simpler, not more difficult. Why on earth I went into business for myself earlier this year (again) is anyones guess. It's certainly entertaining, juggling so many tasks.

What do you want me to bleedin' well do - beg?

PLEASEEEEEEEE give me more capacity, ya ruddy rotters!!:D

Cheers me 'andsomes.:)
