Post text not appearing in notification emails

For the past few days when I get a notification that somebody has posted in a thread I have previously contributed to the text of the reply has not been included.

I find it annoying as I look to see what the post says so I can see if it is worth logging in straight away to respond or if I can leave it to later. You're making me log in every time I receive a notification!

Why not just stay logged in?

I prefer to log out then log back in and pick a few threads to read. I don't like having too many browser tabs open.

Got nothing to do with tabs. When you login to UKBF just click the ‘stay logged in’ option. That way when you visit the site you can reply without having to log in. One less thing to have to do.

I do stay logged in. What I am objecting to is having to open up each thread on UKBF I have responded to just to see if I need to make a response. From time to time people just give an answer that adds nothing to a thread or post pure spam. It is a bit of a waste of my time clicking on an email then discovering this. Fair enough if I'm here to check other new posts but a nuisance otherwise.

But that is all I plan to say. I've made my point and I leave it to the powers that be to decide if they want to change things.

Same happens with private messages. I get an email telling me I have one, but the actually message isn't in the email.

I assumed it was deliberate - and I get the logic.

Personally it encourages me to unwatch threads - I used the email preview to decide whether a response was actually evolving the discussion, or just another dreary argument.

A number of websites seem to be doing this kind of thing now. It always annoys me when I have to click to see the actual message that the e-mail is telling me about. I wouldn't bother clicking through to read a forum reply unless the thread was something really interesting.

Following the picketing outside UKBF HQ, the reply comments are back in the emails to threads.
You'll still need to click to read DM's because the balance between me getting people replying to the email notices of DM's and the inconvenience is acceptable.
People replying to the emails thinking they are replying to the threads aren't so private so, meh.

How about setting the reply-to address on the email notifications to something that will just bounce back as undeliverable? That would stop you getting replies intended for threads or PMs.
