Poor performing adwords keywords

Hi all

Simple question about keywords used in my adwords campaign; I've now got a number of specific ad groups running but some of those ad groups contain underperforming keywords.

Over the last few weeks some keywords have not received any impressions or clicks. I'm not keen to ditch these as they are not costing me any money (please correct me if I've misunderstood this!!). If somebody were to search on that particular keyword they (I beleive) would be very likely to click through.

For example "artist development deal" has done nothing over the past week but it is very relevant to the site projecttalentuk dot com

So should I keep these keywords in the hope that if somebody does use them they click through to the site?

Or should I clear them out?

Any thoughts? (I'm sure there will be plenty )

Adwords is a complex system and can be very expensive, if you dont know
what your doing. An adwords campaign begins with careful keyword selection which will decide whether your going to be successful or not from the outset. Generic phrases usually receives a lot of traffic but its very difficult to convert compared to specific phrases.

The keyword selection and the landing page is critical to your success. Most people bid on the obvious expensive keywords, but from my experience if you do thorough keyword research you can find highly searched similar terms for pennies which the competition has either overlooked or to lazy to do the extra work. Keywords which are non converting, delete them immediately, you can save up to 40%-80% in costs.

For example the keyphrase "artist devlopment deal" should be left in your campaign because its highly relevant to your website. You never know when people might start searching using such a term. It could be a tv programme they've watched, or something they've heard on the radio to prompt them to do a google search.I have personally experienced how low searched keywords can transform into high searched keywords from various clients I manage.

I dont even trust keyword research tools. I use them purely for guidance and nothing more. Many times I've used a keyword tool that returns zero results on several keyphrases but stilled added those search terms to a campaign and obtained good results.

I think anything relevant to your content should remain in your list, what doesnt work one week may work the next.

make me famous would be another phrase that springs to mind, theres little PPC ads, but you can see by the google natural listings that people are using the keywords in their meta-tags
