Personally I cannot see anybody paying up-front for a product comparison service, particularly when there are so many free ones available. These sorts of websites often make their money through commission.

I'll never pay when there are free alternatives UNLESS there is a money back guarentee (set in stone and written in blood) which states that if you dont beat the free comparison sites prices then I get my money back from you.

Maybe you should say they get their money back if you don't get it more than £5 cheaper (less risk for the customer)

Also I would be worried about the websites being safe as the products are so cheap.

As others have said you need to be offering a guarantee that you can get the product at least £5 cheaper (including postage).

Agree with the above, it's a non starter.

Even if you did start up the service, how are you going to get hold of the products to make the comparisons?

Also remember that the majority of internet purchases are for small items, so sub £50, where you are going to find it quite hard to save £5 off what the comparison sites quote.

You will also have an issue if the supplier you reccomend then can't supply the goods.

The concept is sound and in business most firms use suppliers to get them good prices, but that's usually for high value goods where suppliers can add a few % and make enough cash, can't see it working for the public.

Agree with all of above. Personally, I wouldn't want to pay for something that I can have for free You also didn't mention if the £5 fee is one-time payment or a subscription? If a subscription then it's even a bigger 'no'...

Why would someone pay for a service, which they can get for free with a quicker service? Doesn't really make sense.

Because of the low prices we find. During tests we compared 100 random products from games, to vacuum cleaners, to batteries and compared our prices with the times top 5 price comparison websites. We beat there prices 92 times, saving on average 24%. We can also check that these product are in stock before we offer them to customers. As well making sure the website can be trusted.

So although customers are paying £5 in the long run they are going to save more by using us through our cheaper prices.

Also I know that we would be a new website, which is why we would offer customers a months trial so that they can grow to trust us.

The way the questionaire was worded I though you were offering a product comparison.

It's still not going to work. People are not going pay you a fiver to hopefully find a lower price.

In case anyone is interested, the prices the OP provided were not any cheaper than those I had already found and it took a week, not 15minutes.

That said the price comparison sites where I started my search were a little more expensive, so the service may work for some people but needs a lot more refining before it becomes a business.

If price was the only factor possibly but there are so many factors. for instance i would pay an extra few pence or whatever for a company with some reputation for service.
If you were to go ahead You would have to show the prices first and then charge £5 to find out who offered them. Otherwise what happens if you offer a price that is higher than an independent retailer on a website you dont cover?

I think the issue is that the looking for prices bit is a manual process, so won't be able to show prices first.

Or it becomes just another price comparison site.
