Frustrated, yep I am :D

I cant for the life of me get a weblink working in a PDF document that I am creating via Adobe Designer. I enter the text from a MS Word document and it's still not working.

How do I get a damn weblink working in a PDF document.

Can anyone help before I'm PCless

Darren

Don't do it Darren

PM Lynn Cox, she's a wiz at all this sort of stuff, she should help you, she's a smashing lass.

Astaroth, thanks, but its the link within the PDF file that I am trying to make clickable. It shows up as a link, i.e blue and underlined but when you click on it, it doesn't appear as a clickable link.

Jayne, thanks I will.. Lynn has proofread the magazine (did a great job)

Thanks for posting this Darren - I'm really interested to find out how this is done as well. I thought links couldn't work in a pdf as a pdf, by definition, is a photo of the document.

If a PC guru out there knows how to make a link in pdf work I am sure loads of us would be grateful.

Yours in anticipation ....

Lindsey.

No, a PDF isn't really a photo of the document - it's a stuctured description of a document. There is support for links, and other 'active' content, and can be made very flexible.

The exact route to creating links varies depending on what software is being used to create the document. For example in InDesign, it can be done with buttons then setting the interactive content.

However, as I mentioned previously, certain security settings will effectively disable the hyperlinks from working, so that's a good thing to check first.

I don't have that application installed on this computer, but don't you just highlight it, pick Hyperlink and then add the address?

As Stephen says certain security setting can stop links from working on your PC specifically but they may work for others. Post up the document so we can test it. Or find another pdf that contains a link, can you activate that?
