Hi All

I used to get so much traffic from naming my pictures.... .for example 'red-pointed-shoes'. This no longer works for me... google images is normally full of pinterest and the big company's.

I'm just re-working my site, and I want to get it right. `

Whats the best way to name images? Alt tags: how many words? I used to plaster as many words as I could on my site - descriptions left right and centre! but are headings for relevant now?
I'm clearly out of touch. Page titles and description;how many words?

very grateful for tips - thank you, Poppy

And the reason they rank so well is because they are bigger than you.

Naming the pictures is not enough. They need supporting content that indicate the reason for the picture of the pointed red shoes to be on the page. The page title also needs to match the contents. And the whole page needs to fit in with the rest of the site.

But now you don't. That's the way things are. The search engine has decided you no longer deserve to rank where you did.

It's a free service and Google's T&C make it quite clear there is no obligation to index and rank your website.
