Inspired by a revitalised thread in the Accounting forum I've a question posed in a different way.

I'm not looking to save money or put the vehicle through the business but have been looking at the Toyota Alphard/Vellfire a 7 seater SUV for use as a family run around and with rear seats folded into the sides for business use - drop offs to Parcelforce, collecting sundry items - paper, ink etc., dropping off the occasional sample and so on.

Should I insure it for Business use with Personal Domestic & Pleasure use added or Personal use with occasional business use tagged on?

Will your business use only be occasional?

*Regular rather than occasional but very minimal use.

My total mileage between a van and a car averages out at just 114 miles miles per week, 32 miles of which = *3 trips to Parcelforce. The idea is to get rid of them.

(I have access to 2 other cars so do more actual miles but decent chap that I am, let the missus drive when alcohols involved😁)

I would do it as personal with to and from work. If you do it the other way around, I think it will be a lot more expensive. You can charge your business mileage costs (not done this for a while but it used to be 45p for the first 10,000 miles and 25p after that). It might have changed (I have put electrics through the business for the last 6 years).
