This should be titled "I hate PayPal".

I have sent at least 7 emails to Paypal and made at least 5 phone calls to get the company reg number changed. You can't change it yourself. After waiting 3 weeks still nothing. I resorted to recording the last phone conversation with their Thai/Indonedian call centre. And still nothing.

I would like to accept payments over the phone. However, I want something that doesn't cost a lot. A system similar to Paypal's would be great. Any suggestions for a good value one?
 
If you want to take payment over the phone, you could either get an account with protx or get a terminal with 123send.
When I take payments over the phone, I tend to reach for my 123send terminal as the rates are slighlty cheaper for a standard merchant account than an online merchant account and I avoid the 10p protx charge per transactions.

As for Paypal, it's one of the three payment options I offer. Customers with a Paypal account tend to prefer it.

I haven't had a single good experience with Paypal customer service. It was a simple request. The thing is I have emails and phone recordings to prove this. Anyway, I have given up getting paypal to do anything. I have noticed that people have either very good experience with paypal or the other extreme like my experience.

The number of phone transactions would be very few so Paypal's virtual terminal seemed like the ideal solution.

Paypal is the worst company to deal with if you have a problem with your account and you are right i never talk to english people i always talk to thai

You should try chip and pin solutions

If you have few transactions then you probably won't be accepted by Paypal Payments Pro anyway. They don't say on the site but they vet every applicant for payments pro and if you are under a certain amount of transactions you won't get accepted. You need Payments Pro to get the virtual terminal.

If PayPal isn't for you, perhaps checkout NoChex.

We've not had any major issues with PayPal that a call hasn't resolved, we've always spoken to someone in the UK also.

Nochex are great. Slightly cheaper than paypal. And you can theme their payment pages to look like your site. I've used them for several of my customers.

But you can't take payments over the phone and they hold a balance as security.

As I have said a few times before:-

Paypal's registered office is in Luxembourg. :D

If you get a problem that requires legal action, you are possibly in for a very expensive and fustrating experience.

While I'm sure they have many happy customers, do a search on Google on the keywords 'Paypal Freeze Balance'.

As a business, you need to factor such matters into your risk analysis.

I'm amazed at the number of businesses that are totally oblibious to this fact.

I would have thought the local councils investments in a certain Icelandic bank would have served as a warning so far as financial procurement is concerend.

I'm sure you are right, many businesses do not do any research, personally I empty my Paypal account daily, and sometimes several times a day, I never allow it to go over £200 myself.
