Hi new to the forum, I have a few ideas for businesses I'd like to act on but I have one where I believe I have an opportunity so I'd like you guys opinions.

The back story is my mother has a small baby/toddler clothes shop which she started after my sister had her first child and she got all obsessed with babies. It's doing well locally but she had a Wordpress site done which visually doesn't look great and doesn't get many orders just a couple here and there.

She is constantly asking me for advice as I'm a developer and she knows nothing of computers but haven't had the time to help much up to now. Obviously I'm going to sort the site for her and everything but what I've been thinking is that it may be a great opportunity to start a business.

My idea is an order fulfillment/eCommerce management business, I can develop an eCommerce engine to develop further sites, run the stores for clients and handle orders allowing my clients to focus on other aspects of their business.

At the moment I don't have the facilities to store their stock but seeing as the first client would be my mother that wouldn't be a problem to begin with. I'd like to create a dashboard where they can look at easy to understand analytics of how the business is doing and feedback on their products.

I need to investigate the fulfillment end, would the business need it's own couriers or would outsourcing suffice but not an initial problem. I also need to look at pricing options.

The idea is a work in progress but I think it's a decent opportunity to at least try out for the mother then see if I can grow and get actual clients.

Any thoughts?

Hi Mark, certainly an opportunity here, but for the idea to really work you have to find a problem to fix - e.g. what can you offer that they can't do themselves. I actually have a few ideas here as my head's been buried in ecommerce for a while now and I think there is a massive opportunity in ecommerce services.

PM me your email address if you'd like to chat about it a bit more.

I spoke to a local fulfilment warehouse last year as I was considering putting stock with them due to a deal I was setting up. They can obviously receive orders from CSV/Linnworks/email etc and dispatch for you so you don't have to do it yourself, but they also offered, for extra cost obviously, to log onto the system everyday and process orders. They also had telephone answering services too.

Only reason I didn't go with them at the time is my deal fell through and I didn't need their services. I suspect a lot of people would be interested in this type of set up, especially side line business owners.

Hi ImMark, did you manage to sort a solution with potential despatch services? gecs925: If you are still currently looking for said service the best thing to do would be doing a quick search on Google Virtual Assistant's and see if they also offer the order fulfillment and despatch services, you are then able to find a solution which will work best for you and your requirements. I hope this helps.
