Opinions of Starling Bank for Business Account?

Since starting my ltd company, we’ve been using Santander for our business account. No major issues but I started looking round for a new bank around a year ago because the old Santander mobile banking app was so outdated and you couldn’t see full details of payments coming in/out. At the time, I opened a Starling account but never really used it.

A year on and the Santander app still doesn’t have notifications when you receive/send payments so I’m starting to consider switching to Starling as our main account.

Does anyone here use Starling as their main bank? Any opinions? Anyone that doesn’t like Starling and if so, why?

I have starling for my personal and business accounts, and now our joint account as well. It just works, pretty seamlessly. Very pleased with it. No relationship though but then there has been no relationship with local accountable business bank managers in the last 10 years in either lloyds, natwest or tsb...so no difference there. At least when you call Starling you get through fast and without any rigmarole.

Yeh I’ve never had a ‘relationship’ with Santander. They do answer quickly whenever I need to ring them though to be fair.

I have the business and a personal account with Starling. My slight peeve is the mix of phone app and PC app, you can't do everything without both. Other than that it is great.

My only hesitation that I can see is that only directors can have access to the account so if I wanted our accounts person to have access to pay bills, etc, they can’t (though not really the end of the world).

I’ve got a NatWest business account. Get notifications of all transactions on my phone.

And I can still go into the local branch. Doesn’t happen often but good to know it’s there.

And the accountant can access the account without the app.
