Hi,

Newbie looking for your advice. I've recently become a self employed Advisor for an insurance broker. I'm based in an area where it is only myself from the company there & looking to create more business. Our call centre isn't performing, as most people are viewing the cold calls as a nuisance I think, with the hang up time lasting only 5 seconds, so I need to try & take matters into my own hands if I want to make any money.

I've just recently moved to an area & I'm thinking of going around certain local areas, knocking on doors, briefly introducing myself, advise i'm based locally & leave them an introduction letter with more information of who I am, who the company is & the benefits of products we can offer, along with all contact details & link to the website with a possible follow up visit the following week. I feel this is more personal than calling or showing up at the door with a clipboard expecting people to give their info out to a stranger. Just looking for any thoughts on this. Has anyone done this before? Would you feel more comfortable if someone came to your door in this way? Or is my time better spent working on something else? Any thoughts would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks :)

I think the thing to remember when going to people's doors is don't try to be the sales type .
I think handing them the leaflet to give more information is great but don't try to sell on that first contact.
It should increase enquiries for your services if you get the right people . All depends on who's door you knock on

It would depend on the product you are selling IMO. If small cash plans for instance then sell there and then, larger more intricate policies would probably be better achieved through a consultative approach.

Any more info?
