New concept for consultants

Hi,

I'm new to the forum. I am an independant consultant specialising in startegic Programme Management and change management. As well as getting contracts and projects through my own network I have recently joined www.professionalassociates.com to maximise my chances of landing that contract. It is essentially a market place that puts consultants and clients into the same arena and runs an auction system (like ebay-but for business) whereby the highest bidder secures the resource. As I say i have only just joined but have already received enquireries from potential clients so am looking forward to seeing the results.

An interest website although it goes in the opposite direction from how most other similar sites are going - whereas the consultant tenders for the consumers business and then the consumer wins.
The site you mention goes the other way where the consumer could end up paying more for the service and potentionally losing out. Just my initial thoughts

Hi all,

True Ozzy, however these type of resources are usually very specialised and quite sought after. There is a 'buy now' option for the Clients to select should they need the resource quickly. It should help to get a true market value for independants. Quite a good idea I think, doesnt cost anything to join (except for the interview and vetting time) and you can make yourself available or unavailable as required. You are still dependant on someone needing your skill set though.

Hey there welcome to the forum!

Like the site though it doesn't leave much open to professionals who don't necessarily have those stringent qualifications but who are just as good. Just thinking of many of the professionals I come across on the site and in life.

Hi RSL,

Very true that the qualifications are quite stringent. However, for allot of experienced consultants they will probably qualify through the 5 years of blue-chip experience or having worked with 3 FTSE companies. It is not essential that everyone has an MBA, for example. I would encourage anyone who considers themselves of the right calibre to submit their resumes.

Bob hi. A very intresting site though I can't see it working (I look forward to be proved wrong) I would have thought supply must be greater than demand and most people I know when they start a change process would go to one of the key players if they we're of a size to warrant process control.

Have you offered your services to Chamber of Commerce and other Networking bodies as well? Also, I'd get a site together to sell your services.
