I agree with you on this. You don't need a business plan, you need to validate a concept. If you want to propose a business plan as part of the idea you're going to hand over, all well and good. But at this stage a business plan is pointless.

So, let's see if there is anything to build a business plan around.
Well, thank you for this. I'm glad our minds meet here. But, look, I get it. People have limited funds. They have families. Of course you have to be careful. But we are nowhere near at that stage. My point is this... If you are going to put time and effort into engaging with me, then do it by being curious. Walk down the road with me a little way. Who knows what you might find? But to just outright refuse to even explore something can only damage you. Its like living within a permanent fullstop. Your life can go nowhere.

Your recollection of Steve Jobs is incorrect. He did have a [business] plan and a clear direction on how to profit from the iPhone before it was built. He'd already proven the concept on much of it too.

Yes, it is but as above he did actually have a plan on how it would make money and how he was going to market it.

Then so be it. I'm fine with this. You win some, you lose some. I take a low-risk approach to investments. Ideas are worth two a penny, and if an investor were to put money into every idea that presented itself from a passionate creator, they'd have no money left.

Is that not part of the business plan that covers the market research done?
It was just an example. You missed the point. Look... You are putting all of this time and effort into objecting to me anyway, so why not put that time and effort to just be curious instead? What does it cost you? Just ask some questions. Explore the ideas. You are here anyway.

Hi MMGA

Can you explain how the app will work or a prototype?

What are the USP to both the supplier (musicians) and customer end users ?

Is it for established artists or just up and coming artists ?

It's too early Ozzy. By validate the concept, I mean, look at the idea and garner opinion on its chances of success. At a very basic level. Why would you build a business case around an idea? You build a business case around a product or an offering. We ain't there yet.

Ok, that's fair.
  • What market research has been done to validate the concept, and what was the cohort?
  • What changes and adaptions were implemented based from the research (what was learned)?
  • Who are the competition?
  • What will this app do differently that will provide a competitive advantage over the competition?
  • How much will it cost to get the app prototyped, and how are you be funding it?
  • What is the final development cost for the app and how will it be sustained?
  • What is the running costs of the app and the staffing and technical infrastructure behind it?
  • Have you secured any patents?
  • Linked to the above, what is the value per user?
  • What will be my exist strategy, and how long?

I think we are talking about the same thing, the market research. Going out to market and gathering feedback from the target market on the interest, and also improving the idea if appropriate.
You then include that in the BP to demonstrate the evolution of the idea and validate the viability of the business.

I think we differ here. I'm talking about this forum and people who can help validate the idea for the OP. Or let the OP know why it won't work. If the OP leaves here with a valid idea, then it might be time to ask the public what they think and whether it's something they would be interested in.

How much will it cost to get the app prototyped, and how are you be funding it?
Some of your questions above are relevant. But the OP clearly is not interested in developing or creating a business out of this 'idea'. Someone might but not the OP.

But we still a don’t know what’s special about this concept. Forget the app for now, it’s not relevant. Hopefully @music will tell us how this idea will work.
