I have been looking at it for a while now and I have decided to take the plunge and have a go at a mobile bar business.
Good profit margains to be made on drinks and can still hopefully run it around my current e-commerce set up.
Just looking for any kind of startup information/help to get me going really.
I understand if its a cash bar then I need a TEN. One person is only allowed 12 TEN's a year, so for an event needing one, I plan on using the hosts name to apply for it which removes that issue. Don't see a problem there. Other than that I don't need any kind of personal licence if i'm correct?

Do I need any kind of liability insurance when running a mobile bar?
Has anybody on here ran a mobile bar that could give me a few starting tips. Obviously the first event I do is the most important so need to make sure it runs perfect (don't want to be running out of drinks or anything!)

Thanks

Hi Danny

You will need public liability insurance, a personal license from your local council, you may also need to obtain a temporary premises licence as well. Also if you intend to have staff you will need employers liability insurance.

If you need help and advice you can contact the BII who will be happy to help you and try and sign you up or you can contact your licensing officer from the council or police.

You can try calling them on 0800 783 9794/95

Good luck

Thanks for that.
I under the assumption that as long as I had the necessary TEN's in place for the event then I wouldn't need a personal licence? I will get onto BII and look into my personal licence. Thanks for the contact information.

So I need to get in place:
Personal Licence
Public liability insurance
Employers liability insurance

Barring an account with a local alcohol supplier (and picking up my mobile bar & equipment next week) I think ive covered everything.

Thanks

It's 12 TENs for one premises a year. It might be worth getting a personal licence as then you can apply for 50 TENs/year.

Ahh I see. Just read over the TEN licencing regulations again:
Any one premises can apply for 12 TEN's per year.
Personal licence holder can apply for 50 TEN's per year.
Non-licence holders can apply for only 5 TEN's per year.
Definately worth applying for my personal alcohol licence. After having a look into the licence requirements it seems training is only one day long.
