No, all her post proves is that she wants a mentor, but wants to put in as little effort as possible.HI @LMAdminServices - I have sent you a PM.
Everyone else - Cut her some slack, I think her post shows she needs a mentor. Why not be a bit kinder to her.

Maybe drop a few teases about what area of business or area of the country, maybe even a bit about yourself?
Yes, prospective mentors needs to put themselves out to investigate whether she's got a profile filled and whether there's any useful information there about her business and/or why she needs a mentor? I get it.Of course, her profile picture does show all her business information: what she does, where she is based, her phone number, postcode, etc...![]()
I notice nobody's feeling sorry for me despite the sh*t stirrersCut her some slack..
Wow, I wasn’t expecting this when I signed in. I really don’t think I deserve the rudeness I’ve received from a lot of you, I haven’t been rude/offensive in my post at all!? I haven’t stated what I need help with, whether the idea has launched, whether it’s my admin business that I want help with. I didn’t want to put all of the information in my post. You’ve acted like vultures.
Perhaps if you had said you are in this town doing this business...
All that is in her profile photo, along with her email and phone number.
While I agree that people have been a little harsh, you haven't had anyone respond on the forum offering to help or asking for more detail.

I have to agree - this thread in particular does come across like an old croney's club..
Not a great message to newcomers
I've quickly learned that there are two very broad camps on these forums:
1. The polite, helpful sort who understand that every question is a good question if you don't know the answer.
These people will use their general or specialist knowledge to guide you.
2. The miserable old self-proclaimed 'experts'.
These people are full of themselves, and display the sociopathic tendency to big themselves up by doing their best to criticise others.
You must understand that you'll NEVER know or achieve more than these people. If you've been to Tenerife, they've been to Elevenerife...
Ignore them.
Type 2 only want to know details basically because they're nosey.
Type 1 understands that there is some level of generality that may be applied when giving business advice.
Good luck!
Yes, there are people on these boards who've been registered for years and made a grand total of 40 or so posts.I've quickly learned that there are two very broad camps on these forums...
The problem is that you put no information in your post ...and that makes you appear lazy, maybe even entitled. And you're probably not. But the all caps title and the slapdash OP didn't help your case. Anyway, you've got some PMs now. Hopefully you're sorted. If it wasn't for some of those early posters who were "rude" to youI didn’t want to put all of the information in my post.

If it wasn't for some of those early posters who were "rude" to you, your thread would have died a long time ago without getting you any private messages. I'm delighted it turned out well for you. All the best
I don't want to ask for anything specific publically, hence the lack of information, obvious really.
AllUpHere - the intention is definitely to be mean, and you should all be ashamed. It doesn't reflect the level of effort I want to put in at all, what a ridiculous thing to say.
Toby Willows, your response is also ridiculous.
I'm not going to dignify the rest of the men's club with a response.
Thanks to everyone else who commented, I've actually had 6 positive private messages in response to this post, so it can't be all bad!
Hi everyone,
Basically, what it says on the tin.
I'm looking for a business mentor, if anybody is interested please message me.
Thanks!
Laura
I didn't.
I don't believe it's me that needs to do this.
Thanks for your opinion.
What has this forum become ?
Has this forum just become a place for resident ***holes to abuse and turn away new members ?
I have seen a marked drop in new posts on this site and comments like that are probably why.
To be honest with you this should be the "uknotinbusinessbutlikestoslateothersbusinessforums"
I have ghosted and occasionally posted on this forum when needing help and have received some good advice but mostly bitter people just doing what comes naturally.
It's replies like the majority to this post that make me glad I don't regularly visit here for information anymore.
.
It’s a business forum for businesses to discuss business (or at least that what’s the forum title suggests). It’s not “help me set up a business for free” forum. It shouldn’t really be for the “oh crap I’ve spent all of HMRC’s money” people either, there are dedicated debt forums for those questions. You are right “what has this forum become?”.
I hope this isn't aimed at me as that's not what I asked? "Free" wasnt a word included in my post.
