I am in the process of starting up a new business. This is not a new area to me as i currently have my own business, but looking to build on new ideas.

The new business is based on selling adverting space on products that will be seen by the general public, so not in magazines or online. The problem i have is that this concept is very new to me and not what i specialise in, so i dont have experience is selling advertising space or in marketing the product that i will be selling the space on.

What i am hoping for, is if someone can give me any direction on what the key areas on what i need to cover off, research, planning etc. Any suggested reading material that would help. and any 'dos and dont'.

Thanks in advance

The new concept is linked into what I specialise in, design. The company i set up last year is already very successful, so i want to build on this success and in new areas. Just because i dont have all the skills in selling advertising space, doesnt make this a none profitable project. In fact on research that has already been carried out, this is a very unique offering and there is nothing similar out there at the moment, i see this a great opportunity and challenge to learn new skills.

If you have any advice then it would be good to hear from you.

It sounds like you need to hire a telemarketer.

Be very careful about who you hire as there are some real cowboys in that industry.

Try ebonybailey on here. I don't know if you're the sort of client he takes on but, if not, I'm sure he can recommend someone good.

Alternatively, send a PM to gillie as she knows a telemarketer that's getting outstanding results following up a introduction letter I wrote.

Hope this helps,

Steve

If you are still in the process of setting this new business up, I would suggest looking up as much as you can on creating a sound Business Plan and Communication Plan, as those 2 things cover the most important aspects of what needs to be organised and planned to start your business.
