Mail Exchange Server

Why do you want and Exchange server for only email?

What about Office365 - your domains hosted email.

Or, my choice, as suggested, google apps.

If you only want email, I believe these are the best solutions, without knowing if you have any other special requirements.

I'm not sure to be honest lol we were informed by our database people that is what we need.

nd I say you should give me £1000 immediately!!!!

You should ask them for what reasons they think you should have it? Could it be that they will provide it for you????

BTW, do you have any issues issues with your current email system (and how much does it cost you?)?

They have said because emails are required to go via this method, also we send mailshots out from the database and most POP3 emails limit them to 250-500 per hour and it's not enough.

thanks

'emails are required to go via this method' - required by who?

As for mailshots, I would recommend keeping them away from your main email system, as, if your mailshots get seen as spam, the IP address may be blacklisted, which will affect your standard mail.

You didn't say if they offered to supply the service for you.

Exchange for only emails? If this is what you want then yeap google apps email will be good.

However exchange does not cost that much these days depending on budget, we sell it at £6 a mailbox and that includes anti spam and for another £2 we add share point and for another £2 we add archiving for 10 years and advanced security. All depends on how much you value your emails for day to day.

What consultant said^^^. Don't go spamming from your own current mail server as it stands; it's a surefire way to get blacklisted. There is a workaround though...

We can provide what you're after; 25 GB mailboxes, anti-virus scanning, mobile email, etc... pretty standard stuff, £3.95 per mailbox per month. What I would recommend is that whoever you pick, you ask for a dedicated smarthost SMTP service; we recommend the likes of ArrowMail as they do a good job and are cheap. This essentially relays your emails through a trusted supplier, and greatly reduces the likelihood of your domain getting blacklisted (it's still possible, but a lot less likely). Depending on how many emails you send, it might only cost something like £12 a month. Well worth it to protect your domain.

PM if you have any questions or want us to help.

Cheers

They don't offer the service to us. This is why we are seeking alternative methods ;)

Just to clarify, your requirement is really for a bulk email service rather than an ordinary email server or service, Exchange or otherwise.

As others have said, that needs doing with care, and probably quite separately from your everyday email. You cannot risk your everyday mailserver getting blacklisted.

We are an IT company and run our own mailservers for everyday email. (We wouldn't be very good if we couldn't!). But for mailshots we use an outside service, partly for better tracking facilities, and partly as that service handles all the necessary subscribe/unsubscribe stuff. In practice not many do unsubscribe, but it needs to be there.
