    Hi all,

I have a new Magento client who doesn't have a blog, I've worked with Magento clients previously and they have had the Wordpress plugin and the functionality is spot on, as I'm not experienced recommending a plugin can somone offer some assistance please?

I've searched though this forum and came across this post which essentially says create /blog/ then install Wordpress in the folder however it looks ugly and erquired furhter programming.

My client looked at this paid for blog and I was wondering if anyone has experience of both Wordpress and Magento blog plugins for SEO purposes as a comparison of the two?

    Big thanks
    Nina

As you mentioned, installing Wordpress into a /blog folder wouldn't be a great idea, and wouldn't really be an integration. You would leave yourself having to do a lot of work on the theme to get it integrated.

We have used the FishPig extension on a number of sites, and it works really well. It also gives a single point of access, meaning the client doesn't have to remember multiple usernames,

Drop me a pm and I'd be happy to send you some example sites.

Oooh...just realised this is our 1,000th post....crack open the champers! :)

    Hello,
As a matter of fact, there is no need to integrate Magento with Wordpress to get a good blog. For example, you can take a look at our extension - https://amasty.com/magento-blog-pro.html

The thing is Blog pro provides all the needed functionality and does not require installing any other CMS. You can see the screenshots and demo on the page.

I have used aheadWorks AW_blog which is available free at Magento Marketplace. It has a simple step to install and helps you to configure blog within the Magento store. The blog content and other materials can be controlled from the Magento Admin Panel.

If you want to add blog to your site or that of your client, there are two ways to go:

    1) Install a blog extension that extends core Magento functionality.
    2) Integrate Magento with WordPress.

There are pros and cons of each option. For examples, features blog extensions offer are much more limited compared to WordPress functionality. But if you select to integrate Magento with WordPress, you'll have to maintain two systems.

Unfortunately, I can not post the link to a blog post we wrote on the topic, but on our site you can find.

    Regards,
    Julia
