Hi guys & girls, How much should i expect to pay for a logo design ? I emailed a company and they gave me a ridiculous quote but i’ve also been told a different price by another that's way off the first quote. I’m really just after your opinions .

Thanks

£5 on ffiver
£5000 from some swanky design house

£25/hour for a decent designer and 10 hours of discussions, creation, reviews and completion means £250 wouldn't be unreasonable.

Our quotes were from £500 to £1500 for our rebranding that we have just had done.
I'm assuming that was for a bit more than the coloured arch in your logo?

The number of figures here and the funny thing is they are all correct :)

It is personal choice, if you want a say in it and want to work with someone who knows their onions when it comes to branding then work with a creative designer, expect to pay between £150-1k depending on the designer and the day rates, equally you can buy logo design services on fiver - they often use logo generators that you can use yourself online - and to be fair some of them aint bad! So from £5 - £100 if you go down that route.

The mistake a lot of businesses make is looking at the short term, if you need to change your branding in a year from now, how much will it cost you? Can you afford to do it "properly" now?

I would recommend posting a competition on 99designs.com you put up prize money and you get some professional designs submitted for you to choose from
Not so sure about that. Most of the examles I got when I gave it a go were appaling. Half the submitters didn't even read the brief properly.

Look up for a designer friend and ask them to do for you a logo, or go to any of the freelancer websites that has been mentioned in the above posts. Honestly they do work if you want something done quickly.

if you looking for something professional that is beyond a logo.. We normally call it brand identity which includes your fonts to use, branding message, variation of logo that can be used, etc... if thats the case then you should go with an agency. It used to be very expensive but we do provide complete corporate identity ranging from 250 to 1000 GBP. price is lower than other agencies as my second company( X Digital Group) that we started two years ago focus on startups to develop their dream software products and all the required things it needs like brand identity, website design etc... with the same budget of what they would spend to get a basic prototype from big agencies.

But my advise for you as a start up , dont even think about the logo before you write up a logo brief which normally is a two paragraph. One on what is the brand supposed to represent, what does it sell, who is the target customers with the age group, demographic, etc... And the second paragraph is basically explaining , if this brand or business was a person, what it would be like, whats unique about that person, how old is he/she, likes to where, likes to hangout.. This might sound wired but for the design team, its hell alot of info that allows them to link many strings together to do for you a brand that represents your business that people would remember and reference to it, and not just a fancy colored logo.

Once you have that brief, you will start to get a better idea yourself about what your company is about and what it looks like.

Some companies charge way more than its worth, because they can!
I've done some logo work in the past but mainly focus on web design now and I would charge around £100, but i've done it much cheaper and even free for some clients who have bought another service of mine, it keeps them happy!
