We have recently attended a couple of local business networking coffee mornings and the jury is still out for us on whether we feel there is much to gain from them in terms of gaining new connections and ultimately, new business. Don't get me wrong, we have met some very nice people, had some great conversations and first rate breakfasts :)... but we feel the time and effort nurturing relationships in this way may be better spent elsewhere.

Does anyone else attend these types of networking events and if so, how do they work for you?

EDIT: i just realised this post is in the wrong forum category. Apologies board admin :/

As a general rule, networking is great, as long as its not part of a networking event. If people have turned up somewhere purely for an opportunity to network, give it a miss.

@AllUpHere i think i agree with you there. We will probably give the breakfast networking mornings a miss from now on. I also feel they are attended by the same crowd week after week and don't feel this is beneficial.

I networking extensively.

There is a way of making it work, and over a period of 9 years it has been a key way of building awareness of our businesses.

@Paul Norman that's good to hear :)
