I sent the spongebob letter stating my company has ceased trading as of 9/10/2015 and today I received the following letter from HM Revenue & Customs Debt Management, what does it mean?

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your letter dated 9/10/2015 to inform HM Revenue and Customs that your company has ceased. The details have been sent to the Inspector of Taxes to inform them not to raise any further charges.

At the present time the company's corporation tax debt has been passed to a debt collector to collect on behalf of HM Revenue and Customs and who may want to contact you in due course. If they do please inform them the Company has ceased and no further action will be taken.

If you contact us we can deal more quickly if you quote our reference number and provide a daytime phone number.

Has anyone had a similar letter, what should I do? Is it best not to contact them as they have now been informed? I am guessing I should sit tight and apply for strike off in the beginning of January as planned.

Thanks for your help.

It means they would like payment, which I suspect is not possible. As strike off has already been applied for I would let that run its course if HMRC do not object.

It means that the Spongebob Letter has done its job. This is exactly the reaction it is designed to elicit.
