Hi All

Is it worth me becoming an Amazon seller, dropshipping using the BigBuy Company? I was thinking of doing this just as a side gig. I am working for a company at the moment and I am doing e-commerce for them running an online shop using Shopify, I really enjoy it and thought I could do this myself if I could get a company to do the dropshipping for me and I look after the rest of it. I am based in the UK and have been looking for UK dropshipping companies, a lot of the ones I have looked at have bad reviews. Any help will be appreciated.

Many Thanks

Darren

No.

@AmazonGeek will hopefully be along soon to explain why.

No.

Have you consider what happens with returns, which can run high at Amazon, depending on the products?

with the returns I would have thought it would be returned back to the supplier, Like I do at my job.
But they bought it from you?

With my current job, we add the return address of whichever supplier we use.
Is that on for Amazon sales?

What type of products?

You reference BigBuy - how does their returns process work?

BTW,
This is why I am here Paul for this sort of information
And it is the right place to come, however, for more detailed, precise responses, we need better, more specific questions! Unless we pull information out to be able to answer you, you might get incorrect answers which you might act on.

To be honest I don't know how their returns work, I thought it would be the same as what I do at work. No, it's not on Amazon, it's on our Shopify website. The more information I am getting about becoming an Amazon seller using dropshipping, it doesn't seem like a good idea, whats your thoughts Paul?

It is a good idea if you have the right (unique/exclusive) products, understand the process and can make good money at it.

Sadly, if you compete in mass markets and do not understand the processes and costs involved, it is an easier way to lose money.

Sorry, been on a huge project for the last few days,. Just catching up now...

Amazon has very strict rules when it comes to drop-shipping, which rules it out in most cases (I assume you mean you get paid for the order, you pass it to a third party who sends it to the customer directly, meaning you don't need to hold stock.)

In a nutshell, don't try and wing Amazon. Get someone to teach you how to do it and avoid all the common pitfalls. And don't sell a copycat product. You have to find something that is selling already, even though it has problems. If you can fix those problems you then have a differentiated product and can take market share. Grossly simplified but that is the gist.

Amazon can be amazing when done right. Done wrong it is a great way to burn money

Hi Paul, with the returns I would have thought it would be returned back to the supplier, Like I do at my job.
    It depends...

If you use FBA then the customer returns it to Amazon and you then have a few options. They can be graded and resold, put back into live inventory (If Amazon thinks they are brand new, which can create problems), liquidated, destroyed or sent back to you. They are not returned back to you by the customer if you use FBA.

If you sell on Amazon and fulfil orders yourself, then they are returned back to you or, in theory, you could give your suppliers address if they are happy to receive them. But this would include simple changes of mind and not just dodgy products.
