Hi All,

I don't usually post these kind of threads, but it seems to be really quiet in terms of sales at the moment.

I've had an awesome year so far, but the last week in May, slaes seem to have gone down hill. April sales were up 80% on last years and May's were up about 20%, but June's sales are actually down on last years.

I'm not sure if it is me or if it is retail in General. It's nice to have a little bit more free time, but I like to be busy and it's conserning that it could slump like this.

Is anyone else experience the same, or are things going as per usual?

Any comments appreictaed

We are very busy at the moment with about a dozen projects on the books, and even more work in the pipeline but I've learnt never ever to take this for granted and so I'm always on the lookout for new work, even if I have to be honest and tell people that there will be a longer than usual lead time.

Quite the opposite for us, April and the 1st half of May were worryingly slow, this last fortnight has been wonderful. Traffic's building on the website and ebay is busier for us than it was on the run up to xmas.
I just hope the weather is good on Sunday, we are doing a big market and will be trying to get rid of under-selling stock so we can expand and concentrate on the good sellers.

Don't panic yet! Only a couple of weeks dip. What are you selling/promoting? Can you try a small change to the site to excite people, or try an offer for June only (or next two weeks).

Action is better than inaction, and you'll feel like you are doing something about the mini dip!

Is your business about repeat business, if so, get on the phone to some exisiting customers and try to generate some action.

Good Luck

I think we'll all be different because we sell different things. I didn't have a very good start of the year but May has been fantastic, however 1st week of June not so good.
When it was slow in April I ended up doing a 10% offer on the site and I got more repeat business than I would have had without it. This can be a temporary quick fix. Or you can throw something in for free with each order for a 2 week period, but of course it depends what you sell.#
Do you send newsletter? Can you send a special offer to your mailing list?

I would say June is only a week in.

Also, have you changed the way of getting sales

I know when I wasn't tracking visitors v sales to my websites I put it down to seasonal variations - but I was tinkering away in the dark really - now I know exactly when downturns and upturns are and I know if conversion is down it's my fault and nothing to do with anything else
