Is Everything OK at Hi Hosting?

I have two hosting packages with Hi Hosting with several domains on each and about three weeks ago I opened a ticket at Hi Hosting asking Dan to amalgamate all domains on to one package and close the other one.

I didn't get a response which is most unusual so I replied to my own ticket asking if everything was OK but didn't get a response to that either.

I can't see any other way to contact Hi Hosting and just wondered if anyone else had a problem with a lack of response or indeed any other way of contacting Dan

Going through their website quickly I'm wondering exactly who and where they are? I'd cross-check the health of any associated Ltd and try to make contact that way. - But as Paul suggests; it seems like time to migrate away. - Painful memories of Easily and TSO hosts spring to mind!

Something I've taken to doing is registering my domains somewhere other than with my hosting company as a result of the Easily experience. - Have local backups of your site(s) ready to be uploaded to an alternative host; it's then just a case of re-directing.

There s an address on the /terms.html page - as well as a company number. Unfortunately this doesn't tally with the name claimed - which is a dormant company. The /privacy.html page has another address - which could be either a domestic or small industrial site; paintworksbristol.co.uk is the 'estate'.

I don't want to publish the information directly as it smacks of doxxing - but it's accessed fairly easily.

This sounds like it's a 1 man business since you only refer to Dan, in which case anything could have happened to him.

If that is the case, he is likely just a reseller for someone else, and at some point his own bills are not going to get paid, and everything will get turned off.

So best make sure you have a backup of everything at the very least and set yourself a deadline to move away if you don't get any reply.

You can use this to find out who his provider is, which looks to be uk dedicated.

Of course he might just be on holiday, have you tried messaging him on Facebook?

I have seen the web host name mentioned a few times, but other than that don't know anything more about them.

No matter how small/big a business or how long they have been in business always keep your own offsite backups so you or a new web host can restore data elsewhere if needed. Businesses of any size or how long they have been in business can have issues at any time.

If one is not already keeping their own backups definitely look into it.

Did you ever hear from Dan? We have our website and an email address hosted with Hi Hosting, and they've gone down this morning. I've sent a support ticket, but I'm very worried after finding this thread.
I've just cjecked and my cpanel login is invalid.

No and that was despite sending him a reminder asking whether or not he had overlooked my support ticket

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone is still using or heard from HiHosting?

Dan isn't replying to emails or support tickets - the member account is inaccessible but cPanel is fine. A client recently got in touch and would like to move their site and domain away from HiHosting. The site migration part is easy, but we need them to change the IPS tag.
I don't fancy going down the ICANN complaint route.

Wasn’t hi-hosting brought out by one of the big conglomerates? Seems to recall this being reported some years back.

You would have thought so but I believe the buyers were only interested in money and not good service. There have been many complaints.

I have a domain, but only use it for the email addresses. I don't have a website. Can anyone recommend or suggest the best way to keep the domain for email but not pay for website hosting?

Whoever you get your domain name (if a traditional host) will be able to just charge you for the domain.

You then set the domain to send all email traffic (via DNS) to your third party provider.

    A .co.uk domain should cost +/- £15 a year.

I already have the domain, which HiHosting sorts out. How do I move that, and where to? Please bear in mind I have zero understanding or knowledge of these things.

Go to another provider (lots to choose from e.g. godaddy, enom), choose to 'transer in', not register and order the domain.
You then log into HiHost and transfer the domain out.

It should be explained in the hosts help system.

    Hi there,

I'm having similar problems getting in touch with Dan. Not had a reply back to support tickets for a long time and becoming increasingly concerned.

Just a bit of advice does anyone on here know whether a domain transfer from the Hi Hosting site requires input at their end or can it just be done through the Hi Hosting control site?

    Cheers,
    John.

I do not know anything re Hi Hosting - but as a general statement, if anyone is having trouble moving a .uk domain name you can change the IPS Tag through your own account on Nominet.
If you do not have an account setup on Nominet they are free and easy to setup.

Not quite as easy as it used to be.

You have to use the same email address as used in the domain contact details and may also have to weaken the privacy setting where the domain is currently registered before it appears in your Nominet account.

With domains registered at 123-reg for example you have to weaken the privacy to Limited or Nominet won't add them to your panel

I use 123REG to register domain names, and personally not had an issue with this so long as the registrant email address is correct it's been easy enough for me to do

Just to update this, Dan has just replied to our support request on the 8/12/25.

I'm not going to go into details about what was said, but tbh I'm pretty upset about the tone used.

To confirm RE IPS tags: Their WHMCS was down, so we were unable to change the IPS tag (if that's even possible in the user account area). So the domain transfer didn't go through. The client started looked at the Nominet route, but was distracted by work.

I'm sure Dan will be on to comment, and I'm also sure there were extenuating circumstances.
But 2 months to reply to tickets and emails, and being completely incommunicado while hosting vital business assets online...
