Dear All,

I would like to ask your opinion what I should do.

My company is not trading since 1/02/2016 because my previous accountant under declared £20k VAT. We did set up repayment plan with HMRC, but as they don't give you longer than 12 months period to repay, obviously then we started to struggle to pay suppliers and HMRC and then now I'm facing with a £16k PAYE bill too.
After 4 month seeing numbers ( changed accountant) we said to Punch, we are leaving.
Now today I got a letter from HMRC to my name, not company name, saying the company owes still £16k and have to pay and I presume I will get an other letter about VAT.
I don't have to tell, company doesn't have any assets or money as after leaving bloody Punch nothing left we were happy to leave behind.
I am planning to leave UK and move back to Hungary in September as need to look after my Mom.
My question is: Is HMRC going to find me in Hungary ( EU ) and wants me to pay or not?
Shall I start a liquidation process, however I'm employed now and got no money to pay liquidator?
Company's accounts just been sent to companies house, how can I apply to remove company from Register?

The debt belongs to the company, not you. Do your accounts show that you owe the company money through a Directors Loan Account?

If you have not already done so read the thread below. As your company has not traded for three months you can apply to have it struck off by Companies House. Send a copy of the application for strike off to HMRC.

If you do nothing the company will either eventually become dissolved or placed into Liquidation.

As long as you have not commited misconduct as a Director and do not owe the Company money, (eg a DLA pr Scalloways email above) then I would think you have little to be concerned about.
