    Great thread.

    The younger generation are more open minded and so fall for influencer promos more easily. At 50 I just see them as another type of person trying to sell me stuff.

    Although, it depends on the product.

    If there's a wonder cleaning product, most parents (especially women) that see an influencer promoting the product, will consider buying the product. Why?

    Not because the influencer is posting it and the parent group care about what the influencer does, but that the influencer has X amount of people in a demographic and their content is shared by the algorithm for others to see it.

    Influencer marketing is nothing new. How many celebs have you seen endorse products over the years? I hated burgers until Muhammed Ali started promoting the quarter pounder back in the 70s……the evel knieval stuntbike anyone?

    I am quite late to the party, but I what I always advice my clients to do is to perform a thorough audit of their brand, audience and the influencer's brand and their audience (in the case that I am not in charge of doing it myself).

    Seeing a person with a high follower count is simply not enough. If I were you, I would watch how the influencer engages with their audience and if they have any past experience with promoting products. There are plenty of these people to go around, but research on how to find the ideal influencers can be a lengthy process.
