Increasing traffic to a website...help? Advice please?

hi guys, can anyone suggest any ways to increase Google ratings and boost traffic to my website, without spending loads of money..I have no idea about the background of website building ie coding, seo, backlinks, software.

My website is up and running and currently gets around 70 views a day (mainly from social media advertising)

There are two options:

1. You continue to pay for advertising and spend the next umpteen months learning all you can about marketing and SEO.

2. You pay someone to help you with your marketing.

You are selling an expensive products and the site looks cheap and homemade. There are no trust marks and only a mobile contact number. If you want Google to rank the site you need to do a lot more work on the site. But it's Shopify so you may struggle.

Your competitors will be spends hundreds or even thousands on their marketing so doing it on the cheap may not be an option.

    fisicx is spot on, Adam.

    Companies in your sector are highly competitive and are paying thousands a month in marketing. It's fairly easy to do some research into what your competitors are paying for PPC, but it's also not difficult to track their backlink growth and other metrics to gauge how much they're spending on SEO.

    And from just a few quick checks it looks to me like they're spending a ton.

    If you want to outrank them in Google then you have to be smarter than they are or spend a lot more money than they are spending (preferably the former as the latter doesn't always work).

    If you want to get smarter than they are you're going to have to learn as much as you can on a whole range of different subjects - hosting, coding, link building, technical seo (on-site factors), design, PR, extracting insights from your analytics etc etc.

    Learn, learn, learn. Spend months doing it. Even after that, don't actually experiment with your money site. Create another site to practise your skills. Why? Because you will make mistakes along the way ... and some of them could seriously harm your business.

    Focusing on google rankings is a tough gig on the circumstances you describe. Getting smarter is definitely the way to go so I'd suggest looking at 3 low cost resources.

    This will give you a starting place and help you identify the quick easy cheap fixes for a quick win.

    2. Jab Jab Jab Right Hook by Gary Vaynerchuk
    3. The Thank You Economy by Gary Vaynerchuk

    These two books can help you develop a strategy to make the most out of free social media channels. Your other posts suggest you are someone who knows their products and their customers and has a proactive approach to things. That along with the type of product you are selling and my perceptions of your customers makes me think going down the social media route would be a better place to start then focusing too much on Google specifically. Also your google position will improve as a byproduct if you do the social media stuff well.

It will flag as an issue but don't immediately panic a set about making it responsive. First ask yourself will people look at my site from mobile devices, does this really matter? Then ask yourself has the tool assessed my site correctly? Perhaps your site is responsive but for whatever reason the tool hasn't picked up on it so check first. Probably not the best examples as pretty much all sites would benefit from being mobile friendly I'd say yous included and assessment of of a site being responsive is unlikely to be wrong but hopefully you get the general idea :)

    Marketing wise the cheapest way you promote the site is to find relevant blogs and ask them if you can write a guest post on quad bikes, stick a link to your site in there somewhere when posted by the blogger this process in time will improve your organic presence in Google.

    It is a competitive niche so it will take you a long time to generate sales traffic without investment. If you invest I'd recommend PPC for the fastest return.

    I know this is an example but I just want to add...
    I have been out of the game lately but I am pretty sure that responsive is now in the googe algo as a ranking factor. Conversion can be significantly less on mobile devices depending on the product but traffic can actually exceed desktop traffic. Even if your target market are complete technical ludites it is still worth doing (I won't go into detail on a public forum but this advice is based on experiance). It isn't that hard to do, most of it can be accomplished with targeted CSS.

    Absolutely no point increasing traffic to the website til you sort it out.

    As you are a free member - we are not allowed to give you a review here - but there are at least 4 or 5 fundemental things on your site that would set alarm bells ringing and hence possible customers leaving in a rush.

    Something mentioned here made me think about your bounce rate. Unless I have missed it somehow, knowing how many people are sticking to your site can make the difference. No point in upping your quantity if they all jump ship quickly.

    Can you increase how long they stay on your site? How can you do this?

    5. Implement Schema microdata which can improve click-through rates.
    6. Send out emails requesting an interview to thought leaders in your industry and publish the interviews on your blog.
