Hi All,

We purchased 2 x Printing Press machines from an auction in UK and exported to Overseas, due to lack of knowledge we couldn't sale there, now we want to import those machines here - Please advise do we need to Pay the customs Duty again and do we need to pay the VAT again ?:|

If yes, do we need to put value of such machines juts scrap value ? as we have already suffered quite loss:mad:Also, I don't have VAT registered company here - what will be the procedure now for me.

I will be really thankful to you all.

When they sent abroad -
Was an invoice issued? If so, were they paid for?
Were they "on loan" to a different company?
Who was the owner of the equipment whilst they were abroad?

If they belong to a company registered abroad, then you would be buying them and importing so taxes would be payable.
One (dodgy) loophole I can think of would be if the machines were "faulty", and you issued a refund you might be able to avoid paying the taxes, however tax avoidance and all that.........

What Kind of Printing Machines are they? When we imported one from Australia about three yrs ago, it wasnt Subject to Duty. I cant remember if we paid vat at customs, However, Depending on what sort of equipment it is i may be able to help you find a buyer for it overseas.

I assume you bought it from a company outside of the UK so you didnt have to Pay VAT from the seller. The way around it is that you set up a VAT Registered company in UK and claim the VAT Back.

If its a intracomunitair acquisition the VAT will be zero on the taxe declaration.

Read the intracomunitair VAT acquisition.

I can only go on what area I know which is embroidery machines

New a 12 head 7 colour embroidery machine cost about £44000+vat about ten to 15 years ago as the top of the range normal machines

It's value now to say a company could be £12000 if the company had a use for it, but if you look on ebay they would be on sale between £1000-1500

My point is what is the true value of the machine to any buyer at that age and is it in a working state or does it need repair or maintance all would lower it's price considerably

Hi,

I would be very careful with this one. If they have changed ownership between them shipping out and returning then they can not be re-imported as British Returned Goods. Equally if you are importing them on a commercial basis then you will need an EORI number (VAT).

I would be happy to give you more accurate advise if I had more details.

We used the buyer`s detials as consignee while shipping to outside EU/UK.
Now, I want to re-import under my own compnay name which is not VAT registered yet - Although Sender is my own compnay overseas.

so In short - Im sender overses and I am receiver here in UK.

1 machine is OK but other mahcine needs to be repair - although they have been stored more then 1 and half year there so defnatly both machines requrue some attention.

Please advise.

If you belong to a registered company then it won't cost high to you and if this is your individual order then it will charge you some more amount.
