I want to start a hacking course, what are the legalities?

I like the sound of this.

Learn how your tech can be hacked by someone who used to hack your tech!
Then learn how to prevent them hacking you again!

Or….

Learn how to hack your competitors but don’t tell anyone.

so, I want to start a website on, teaching people how to hack, which wouldn't involve showing people, or encouraging illicit activity, but rather, detailing methodologies, and providing code samples etc.

Primary USP: Tutors are previously convicted cyber criminals (who obviously no longer partake in such activity)

Here are some website samples so you can see what it is i'm trying to create:

You need to concentrate on teaching anti hacking skills which may include how hackers work in beating modern systems

    Okay;

what if we provide offensive, and defensive courses?

Doesnt mean each offense course will have a dedicated defensive course, but most would/there would be other unrelated defensive courses.

Why would you want to run an offensive course?

What legitimate reason would anyone have to learn hacking techniques?

Can I suggest you brand it as a cyber security course. Learn from ex hackers how they can attack your networks and how to protect against evil actors.

    Or something along those lines

Firstly; I feel as if that's an irrelevant point.

Secondly; criminals can be caught, and yet, still be experts in their respective fields.

Hacking isn't just green text on a dark terminal, it's built up on many different skills and technology.
So, your ‘experts’ should be able to teach your clients how to catch the real expert hackers who don’t get caught, right?!

So, your defence against hackers includes the detection of offensive hacking, but you won't try to catch the offenders, which means they'll be free to keep offending!

It's easy to gain access to a system. The difference between the experts and the amateurs is that the experts know how to cover their tracks on the way out.

Suppose you’re planning on burgling someone’s house. Wouldn’t part of your plan include a strategy on how to evade detection and thus keep your loot without going to jail?

Teaching operational security, is a completely different thing - it's, it's own sub-field within the industry. We will not be teaching people how to catch hackers, that's law enforcements job, not yours you little vigilantly :p
