Our accounting system is very traditional, the accountant gets a carrier bag full of paperwork once a month and thats it!!!

So we had ear marked £8,000.00 for this quarters VAT, so we wouldn't be surprised.

Just had a call to say we are due a refund of............£2,000.00, due to a cock-up on the part of the new boy at their office, last time we paid the VAT.

So all you accountants out there, have a big mug of Tea on me, cause I luv ya!!!!

You are worth your weight in gold and anyone who says otherwise, I will send the boys round to.............nail gun 'em to the floor!!!!!!
:)

lol!

Good thing you have a good accountant. It's a good reminder for us all to see them as an investment too and part and parcel to having an effectively run business.

Yes Alan they made a mistake, not sure by how much, but yes we overpaid.

But hey, we are all human and in my mind we are £10,000.00 better off, so 'ave another cuppa on me mate!!!!

I did wonder why everyone was praising the accountants :|

Still Keith must be doing very nicely not to know that he had overpaid by £10K. I think our clients might have queried it ??

I think I'm in love with Keith:D:D.......I don't think any of my clients would take in quite the same way but it is refreshing to know that there are some who accept that we all make mistakes.

Just put the kettle on for another:)

Scary stuff innit, that my grip on the accounts is that tenuous, I have suddenly found myself noticeably better off.
Just can't get my head round it all, well don't want to really, me is a good builder, not a 'bean counter'.

Have a 'cuppa' Bob, cause me luvs ya!!!!

EDIT

We didn't overpay by £10k last time, last quarter was £7,500.00, but this quarter has seen a lot of outlay for new vans, websites and stuff like that and more power tools, as always!!!
The £7.5k was a bit of a blow, so this time had allowed £8k for the VAT, it works well in my head for me anyway!!

Ah Keith but the flip side is - this is the only mistake that they are owning up to:eek:

The Sting saga made me laugh, when it was found that his accountant was a mild mannered account Mon - Fri an a Scottish Lord at the weekends.

It is possible to go off people Richard;)

Know what you are saying, but what can you do, gotta put your faith in the 'bean counters' or do it all yourself.
Me and the Abacus don't mix!!!
