Seriously guys, if you don't want me to be in 'your gang' just PM me and I will go away.

Okay I am a new member with only 450 posts under my belt and the fact that I only have one UK credit card is not your fault but what is the deal here? All I wanted to do was pay you money to become a member. I received your email and was grateful that you were prepared to let me pay by alternative means because I couldn't get the paypal thing to work. I call your office, someone keeps taking my number and no-one calls back. I cannot send you a cheque as my cheque book is back in Egypt.

I was trying to join as a paid member before the great £1000 design offer came up but when I saw it I tried to post on the thread but couldn't because I am not a fully paid up member. Yet today there is a non paying member that has posted on the thread.

I am not a happy camper and am beginning to feel decidely unwelcome. If you only accept paid members with technical knowledge please just tell me.

Sally

Aaah,, we love you sally.......

Don't worry, they let me in and I am a technical nincompoop..... god it must be late if I'm using words like that!

Hope they get it sorted for you!

Sally,

I don't know if it's relevant, but I find it nigh on impossible to buy things at UK sites any more because of the stringent security procedures in place - presumably because of all the fraud that goes on. For one service, for example (and I won't mention the member because I understand why his policy is in place), it rejected my credit card because it's not issued in the UK, it rejected my brother's credit card because my IP address is not in the UK, it rejected my brother's credit card from his IP address - I think because it's really a debit card. Like you, writing a cheque is not an option for me. In my case, it meant the only option was to make an international call to my bank in Britain to authorise some kind of direct payment, and they weren't able to do that. It's very frustrating.

In this specific case, I would hope that the forum owners find a way to help you out.

I've got to be honest - I don't understand where the problem lies here. As far as I know, if you can see a post, you can reply to it. Ditto to PM'g the member concerned. In addition, his web-site is on his profile so you could contact him through that.

Having said that, your problem isn't clear - can you not post on the thread? Can you not see the profile? Can you not click on the link to his site? Just curious, as I can do all of those so wonder whether there is a priblem with the site for you?

Great to hear I am not the only nincompoop :D

I didn't think to PM them to be honest, I just clicked reply to thread and it said I didn't have access to that area (or whatever it said) so I gave up.

My card wasn't rejected, as it is a UK card but the only UK one I have these days. Paypal said that card already has an account, must have used it to buy through paylpal before but I change my email address every few months and have no idea of the account details so it wouldn't let me pay.

It is just so frustrating, I don't normally have trouble paying people money. Maybe I should just stay in the cheap seats and leave the gods to those who can!! ;)

Hi Sally,

You are welcome, sorry that this has gone round the houses a bit. I emailed you with some contact details last week but, so far, we haven't got any of your messages. I'll PM you the details as well.

Thanks,
Gareth

Sally,

Use a temporary debit card from a company like 360money (www.360money.com) - Register it on your UK address. You can load cash on it from anywhere were paypoint is accepted. I use mine on amazon, skype etc.

Thanks Wilfred, I shall look into that.

Yes Dotty, I have lived on here for a month - am now officially an addict :p (note to self - get a life).

Thanks for the number again Gareth but when I call it someone takes my number but nobody calls back.

I think I shall give up and be content being a low-life :p

Hi Sally,

That's not the usual way we deal with messages and, normally, people are pretty good at passing them on. I'll be issuing a reminder asking that if people take messages they need to pass them on! Sorry for the bother.

Thanks,
Gareth
