How would you rate banks?

There are many threads popping up about business bank accounts. Interesting question would however be, how would you rate UK banks?
So if you could give a list like this:

2. ...
3. ...
4. ...
etc ...

I would probably rate HSBC as the best, only because I bank with them and have been satisfied with them. But I have had no experience with many of the banks (e.g. Barclays) and cannot rate them. It may be better to do this as a poll, with questions designed to find out who gives a satisfactory sevice and who does not. One also has to remember than in all businesses, one dissatified customer can undo the effect of 1000 satisfied ones.

that's the thing. I am banking with NatWest so I can assess them. But the interesting thing is how people perceive banks that they have not got any direct experience with.

You are just proving how pointless the question is. I bank with Barclays and they are great. I also have accounts with HSBC and LLoyds. Also good. So what?

If you are so busy running your business - maybe you should select which questions you reply to more thoroughly. We wouldn't want to waste your time when you have a business to run.

I think this demonstrates how weak people's choices and opinions are. I have no idea how to rate banks and I actually work in one.

No it means select any.. It makes little difference. And focus on something more important.

Business means running it to make a profit and that can be quite challenging. Selecting a bank is a minor issue. Get your priorities in the right order.

So.. back to the OH or your meal recipes, whichever is more important.

Wow, people come on this forum to ask for help and advice and there are lots and loits of people that are happy and willing to offer that advice. If this kind of thing doesn't interest you, then why bother reading the posts?

How on earth can ANYONE who wants to run a successful business suggest that choosing a bank is a minor issue??

Having the correct bank with the correct business manager is every bit as important as every other aspect of running a business.

Which private banks would you recommend? I'm also going to be looking for a new Business account - think it will be worth seeing all the options.

The one I used to bank with is a specialist one for certain professions so probably not of interest to the general businessman but the service was absolutely superb. I couldn't fault it in any way.

I`ve banked with HSBC for the last 15 years, both on personal and business banking levels. I have no complaints at all. Every time i`ve had reason to contact them they have always been very helpful and efficient at dealing with enquiries.

Although I dont have direct experience of other banks I know people that do, and from their experiences with Natwest it seems the service there is rather poor.
