Global warming can be reduced to some extend if we do not cut down trees, reduced the forests, animals etc.

Following this argument Global Warming could be reduced if we killed everybody while we "reduced the forests, animals etc".

Not an ideal solution perhaps. But effective.

It all depends on what China and India do really. With the way things are going the world will warm up further. Spring, Summer and Autumn will become even warmer. Winters I'm not so sure, open for debate.

All depends whether we can adapt in time. If it changes slowly we'll adapt, if it's an erratic change then I guess we'll get what we deserve.

Global Warming is all about £££££'s not saving the planet, People in the energies are Raking in Billions in so called green charges, we're giving away millions of £££'s in grants to foriegn wind turbine companies to make electric for us and then Charge us a fortune for it.

If we stopped all this crap with global warming, then we could save £250 -£300 a year on our energy costs.

Global warming is a scare tactic for governments and global fuel and material suppliers to bump up prices and make a killing in their lifetime. I could almost guarantee there is trillions of litres of oil left untapped, just the oil companies and a-like realise instead of racking up the costs of searching for all of it, its easier to put the price up for the meantime so that when it comes to investing 100 billion into finding new source 'when' IT IS NEEDED its not a problem because they have made trillions of pounds in the run-up. THINK If there actually was a shortage for resources on the planet then the most powerful people in the world would be doing something about it, instead of telling people to stop using 10/20 more litres in the week when driving or turning off your power sockets to save a couple watts of power p/hour.

I think it would be cheaper to prevent babies being born, think of all the greenhouse gases from those smelly nappies.

Now looking for a pre-used , economy size replacement as you suggest, but not too economy size or she won't be able to carry all the recycling to the depot, (I won't insure anyone else on the Cayenne, so it's shanks pony for her).

I'm genuinely not trying to attack anyone but it seems like this conversation is a microcosm that represents the macrocosm of politics around this subject. People get offended too easily but simultaneously people also nag people for small issues and demand the adhere to certain "truths"

In my mind and personal opinion there is one truth: What we're doing is going to run out.

My grandchildren (I'm 25) are most likely not going to have fossil fuels so I want to help find other avenues to give them the comfortable life I've been so fortunate to receive.

The points about the windfarms was interesting. If you don't like windfarms then I'd suggest supporting tidal farms? Maybe solar panel research? Seems dangerous to do nothing, even if all you do do is lend support to some businesses trying to make improvements in renewable technology.

Gotta agree with the overpopulation, needs to stop being a tabboo subject for politicians but good luck making it acceptable to talk about in our current culture, we're in another baby boom!

This is a valid point, wastage of food is terrible but people are not trained how to re-use foods, plus the fact that you cant really re-use half of a ready meal

Food habits are getting worse IMHO, partly the reason for the increase in obesity. People were fittest just after WW2, and maybe we should all go back to repair and re-use methodology.

On the other hand, supermarkets are finally getting to grips with giving away their overstocked and previously wasted foods now which is a good start.

Maybe we should bring back food rationing??

How is that going to stop global warming?

Anyway what's that going to do? How are the logistics of moving huge amounts in small bits from millions of locations to other locations going to work?

Bear in mind the vast number of Health and Safety and other regulations that have to be obeyed. Also consider the carbon footprint of this exercise which would be significant.

An alternative, composting, gives off Carbon Dioxide which, ahem, leads to Global Warmering. (Gasp).

There are numerous things that added to the demise of the Dinosaurs, there size being the biggest one. Once the Asteroid had devastated the planet and blocked out the sun the food chain collapsed which meant that large creatures couldn't sustain the calorie intake.

I believe in order to help this planet people need to be more logical. The problem with using your head and thinking long-term is that you can come across as cold, harsh and distant. Compassion tells you that everybody should be free and be allowed to do what we want so long as its not hurting anybody else. However, not having a cap on the amount of petrol you purchase or being restricted to eating less everyday would be a breach of our human rights.

If a politician came in and enforced some strict laws which would actually benefit us and the planet in the long run, then they would have to face the backlash at the next election and more importantly they will be portrayed as a dictator who wants to control everybody's lives. If there were no disastrous consequences for them to doing what's best for the future generations then I don't think we would face the same problems we will be facing in the future regarding the lack of opportunities for people, particularly teenagers, and the destruction of this planets eco-systems. Democratic states, although great for us, have incredibly large Eco-footprints and will cause a lot of debt to the economy for future generations. Going to the extreme with humans rights seems to have a devestating cost on a country's economy. Good examples include not being able to send home immigrants who don't contribute and just take take and take and, of course, prison. I think we are being too compassionate for our own good just trying to please everybody.
