Hi All,

I am launching a competition to help increase site exposure to potential clients and candidates as well as boost serps (link is required from entrants) and i have set a pretty good prize.....however does anyone know of some good places to promote it on?

Rules stop me from giving details of comp etc.

Thanks
Grant

Facebook? although your probably going to get a high bounce rate as people are just coming in for the competition and not what you offer on your site.

actually it is more of a link building exercise than trying to sell more directly so could work....just reluctant to start paying for fb ads straight away.

Trade Magazines ? They have to fill their pages and are always up for offering their readers something for nothing (I am not suggesting you pay for an ad).

Just a quick update to say the competition seems to be working!

A lot of applicants have new or low ranking sites but not always the case. Anyway the site has stepped up to 12th for IT Recruitment Agency so steady move in the right direction!!

Fingers crossed!

You can promote your competition through social networking websites where mass number of people are visiting every daylike Facebook, Twitter, Digg, Reditt and more...

Very Happy to say that i seem to be showing as 10th result on page 1 for IT Recruitment Agency......Looks like the competition is working!!

Glad to hear the competition is working, make sure you keep up the activity link wise after the competition ends otherwise search engines can think it is just a 'timely' website rather than keeping up there

Have you tried submitting to free Press Release sites?
A lot of them are free for a reason but it helps get the word out!

If you've got a wee budget for this capign too you can add to press release submission sites - less cumbersome than having to trail around the web yourself!

plenty of SEO work went in to reaching top 20 but began to falter at 14th so launched this competition on the 9th of April and just kept moving up the rankings. Currently 6th and still big step to reach 3rd but fingers crossed!

Thinking about it, I'm not sure this competition will actually do you much good in the long run. Many of the people that enter are going to remove their links once the competition is over so any improvement you gain in your Google ranking will be short lived.

Or have you thought of a way of enticing people to keep the link up? Another prize in a few months' time, perhaps?
