How to handle warm leads?

Hi everyone!

It bothers me for some time as I am not sure how to handle warm leads. After a cold email campaign there were a few leads who opened the same email 8-12 times and clicked on the link a few times. They haven't asked any questions, they just keep opening emails in the last two weeks.

I could be wrong but that behavior doesn't seem normal and they are probably interested but I don't want to be pushy. Since this is my first ever cold email campaign I am not sure what to do. Should I contact them with more info or wait? In other words how much should I wait until the next email with more details about a product/service?

I am guessing they are residential and not business customers. I think according to GDPR you can call businesses no problem but for the public I think you might need to have some kind of an invite?

Hey, I'm not marketing expert but, you should have a campaign, not just one email. Regardless of activity ( except unsubscribe ) you just continue the campaign.

e.g.

Week 1 send out basic product info
Week 2 send out some use cases of the product
Week 3 send out some testimonials of the product
Week 4 send out some business results achieved by using the product

etc etc

In other words - keep reminding them - the ones that are not interested will unsubscribe generally

The last thing I would want is a phone call, 'hey you looked at my product several times so I thought I would call you'

My polite response would be 'if and when I'm interest I'll contact you, I have your details' or if I'm a bad mood 'F*** **f and d**'

I'm happy to be told to eff off 1 in 20 times? I might get a lead by being pushy.
I'm not really impressed by email marketing in general these days. I know it does have an effect for some but for those I think they could get even better results.

No, actually we contacted other businesses.

If they are businesses then I would be calling them anyway regardless. If you are my potential customer I am calling you. I found it hard to call selling my own business but easy selling other peoples!

Pick up the phone and call them. The worst that can happen is they will say they aren't interested. Just remember that the business you are targeting may well canvas/market or cold call themselves. We are all looking for more customers!

You have them biting at your bait, well done

Now send them a letter, telling them all about the benefits of using you and some indication of your charges

Letters addressed to a person are always opened and may sit on their desk for a week reminding them of you.

To many people only thing Phone, Email rather than the traditional method of post just because it costs. A 4 colour brochures can often work wonders and look professional

Not a bad idea Chris, in fact some organisations will not accept emails. As less hard copy arrives on desks it might well stand out!

Thats exactly it, keep them in a sales funnel. It's not being pushy if you feed them information they are interested in! I think it's better to warm them up and wait for them to approach you. I agree about the phone call too, iv'e seen a couple of comment about giving a call - I don't think this the right idea. It is not at the right stage for a phone call, sending emails out like the above will just act as a healthy reminder and then could warm them up even more. Definitely try this method! Great response.

What were you hoping for when you sent out that first email?

That they would email back?
That they might call?
What was plan 'B' if they didn't respond?

What was in that first email? Was it valuable and/or useful information?
What specifically did you think was going to get them to enquire?

I'm sure I can give you some exact actionable answer if you answer these questions first.

Fire away.
