I heard about plenty of negative stories about selling scrap gold. I have a thought about selling my scrap gold. So what to do? How to avoid scam? Let me know about your positive and negative experience. Pm me any interesting tips, pls.

do go to jewelers in areas highly populated by chavs, as the price of gold is very high, due to the demand for soveriegn rings and hooped earings

Cash4gold has drop in centres In hartlepool for people getting rid of gold, as it save a fortune on postage and packaging

Go to a local store and get a price rather than send it into anyone of them companies on the TV.

The BBC did a program on Cash for Gold they had scap gold independently valued at £200 and sent it to Cash for Gold who sent a cheque for £22 when they sent it back and asked for their gold back they was told it had gone missing.

At least if you don't like the offer you get from the local store you can take your gold away with you and try somewhere else.

Cut out the middlemen and sell direct to a gold refiners - I've heard good things about (but not used personally) Star Refining in London. They still do the free postage thing but their prices are supposed to be the best around; they're the people the local jewellers will sell your gold to (at a profit).
